Diary of a Mad Fan
It only took viewing this dynamic motion picture once to know that I just had to have the soundtrack. I was quite surprise to find out that the soundtrack was to be released (April 19) I could not wait for it to hit the racks. And just like the movie, this soundtrack it just as wonderful and outstanding. Each performance is memorable and touching. If you can remember those wonderful heart felt moments on screen as these songs faded in and out you will appreciate this cd.
So many talented and wonderful artists lend their voice and to make this ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDTRACKS OF THE YEAR. No lie folks. It is sprinkled with newcomers and legends alike.
Some of the great names who appear, which seems like to be everyone, are India Irie "Purify Me" which makes you wanna put down the flip top and lose yourself. The sound is as fresh as rain. Monica on "Sick and Tired" and Angie Stone on "Different Direction" sound if they were lifted from their current cd's and almost make you forget that you are listening and enjoying a sound track.
Tamia does a fantastic job on "Things I Collected" I can't stop hitting the replay on this one. The words are pure poetry. And sung with such emotion.
Cheryl Pepsi Riley, who herself proves that she has staying power in the industry and is a very versatile artist, appears on three tracks "I wanna swing", which is a great jazz tune; "One of Us" and "Father Can You Hear Me".
Natalie Cole just shines in a powerful way on "I wanna Love again" It is great to hear from this veteran and should be released as her own single. A new cd would be nice Nat.
Darlene McCoy's a newcommer to my ears stands out on "Fallen in Love" and has well established herself here. I love this cut.
Heather Headley, one of the strongest new voices in entertainment belts out "Ain't it Funny". I am still waiting on her sophomore cd, cause this girl has such a spark. Every soundtrack would be blessed to have Ms Patti participation showing up on "I Wanna Be Free" and Ms thang does what she do best "sing like there is no tomorrow" The Gospel "Father Can You Hear Me" is every child's cry to heal the hurt and pain brought on by life's trials. Every voice "Tiffany Evans,Terrell Carter, Tamela Mann, and Cheryl" blend perfectly to produce a truly anointed song. Repeat anyone.
Lastly the cd, closes with another sunday morning gospel "Take it to Jesus" featuring Tamela Mann on lead. It is guaranteed to get your hands to clapping and your feet to stomping. And it will raise the roof.
If you enjoyed the movie you will doubly enjoy this soundtrack. It seems like every thing Mr. Perry touches turns to gold. And this is no exception. Call it gospel, inspiration, soundtrack or whatever comes to mind, I call it music to be renewed by.
BUY IT NOW AND BE YE TRANSFORMED.
What Happened to Chandra Currelley-Young and Toni Braxton?
I have never written a review for a CD, but this time I was compelled to do so. I absolutely love this movie! But when I bought the soundtrack, I was so disappointed that a couple of tracks were missing. First of all, I love the song "I Wanna Love Again". It enhances the whole mood for the "Chandra Scene". The reason why I bought the soundtrack was to hear Chandra Currelley's vocal on this beautiful ballad. What happened? I like Natalie Cole, but why couldn't they have left Chandra's voice for the soundtrack? Big disappointment!! Lastly, why isn't Toni Braxton"s ballad "Stupid" on this soundtrack? Maybe I need to see this movie a couple of more times, but are there songs on this soundtrack that are not in the movie? Like I said, Big Disappointment!!! I am on my way to Warehouse Music to trade this in!!!!
diary soundtrack cd
i was very disappointed that they did NOT even use any of the original soundtrack [especially for the song "Father, can you hear me..."] which was sung in a VERY powerful, moving way in the movie by the little girl, other choir members, her pastor & her mom from their hearts. i didn't care who really sang the songs as long as they were EXACTLY as they had been in the movie [which is what i thought a soundtrack was & what i thought i was paying for]. they performed a very moving rendition in the movie that was truly inspirational to anyone watching and/or listening. i don't know what they were thinking when they decided to pass off these much more boring, sedate versions on the cd. otherwise, it was just an ok cd with kinda nice music since it didn't even remotely resemble what i had heard, enjoyed & absolutely loved. i guess i just want to know what in the world happened to make them change almost every song from the movie to plain, boring, unimaginative blather set to music. it was a waste of my hard-earned money to me since this was NOT what i thought i was paying for...
