Everyone should go see this movie!!!5
I was a little unsure about paying money to see this film when it first came out. I am familiar with the hilarious plays done by Tyler Perry, but movies are on a totally different level. Once I walked in the theatre and watched the movie, I left amazed!! I can not believe that Tyler Perry is such a mastermind, being able to produce both plays and movies, and do a terrific job at both.

The movie is great for teenagers through senior citizens; it is very clean, with no foul language, and is filled with drama, humor, and reality. The film relates to life, and how you can move on from your past, discover who you are, and become a better person.

If you are worried about the actors in the film, put all of the fear aside!!! Some great and well known people were chosen for this film, Kimberly Elise, Shemar Moore, Steve Harris, Cicely Tyson, and of course Tyler Perry. All of these actors did a beautiful job and played the role so good that I actually forgot who they were.

Movies such as Big Momma's House have no comparison to this film, so if you enjoyed or didn't enjoy that movie, I guarantee that you will enjoy Tyler Perry's. Unlike Big Mommas House, Diary of a Mad Black Woman actually has meaning, and a story that you can relate too. Although you may enjoy only laughing throughout a film, Diary of a Mad Black Woman allows you to laugh, cry, love, and make your life better.

This is a wonderful film, and I ensure you that it will be worth your penny. Once you see the film, you will think that Tyler Perry has been creating films all of his life. You will shed tears of sorrow, as well as joy, and simply feel love and life. I give this film 5 stars and encourage all to go support.

Get a Grip it's called "Entertainment"4
I was appalled at the number of negative reviews on this movie coming from black folk. And yea I followed up on the rest of your reviews too and found that most bashed everything that they reviewed. Makes you wonder if they are not "Mad and Black". It is not that I expected everyone to love this movie, but nor did I expect the blatant disrespect of another man's craft as displayed in some of these reviews. When "Diary" opened in our city, it was sold out for days on end. The only way you were able to get a ticket was to buy one in advance and then show up an hour early on showing day. And our city is not a metro but it is not a one-stoplight town either. We have an abundant amount of theaters and Diary was showing on four screens at two of the larger complexes. People stood in line for hours in the pouring rain just to get a ticket for any showing possible. And for Mr. Perry it paid off, debuting at #1 on its opening weekend. Diary did its thing. And it is making Mr. Perry a wealthy man. $Ching Ching$. I was not moved when the "other critics" slammed the movie, saying it was one of the worst of the year. That I could stand. But now I read reviews from uppity black so called critics who now follow their lead. For what purpose do I ask? Once again I am not saying that everyone has to write a positive review.
This is called ENTERTAINMENT folk. Mr. Webster defines entertainment as "amusement". And that is exactly what Darren Grant, Mr. Perry, Kimberly Elise, Shemar Moore and the rest of the cast did. This movie is very entertaining. No it is not an Epic, a Biography, or a True story. And it was never meant to be. It was just for pure fun and enjoyment with a subtle message. Well maybe it could be a true story since many of the situations and characters depicted live in our very own homes, towns and streets. Some probably even wrote a review. ; ) And naw, I am not saying it was the best picture either. I have seen some movies, both black and white, that were far better or worst. And adding to that, when have we as "Black Folk" won an Oscar for best film for any of our movies either produced or directed. So to say that it is not award winning is not saying much at all. I give Mr. Perry and cast an "A" for entertaining us. And that is exactly what Diary will do if you take off your rose-colored glasses, sit back, and attempt to enjoy this movie. By the way Kimberly Elise is so so fine. So stop the soapbox reviews and try to be encouraging.

CRITICS, EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT!!5
To all the so-called critics that tried to gave this movie a one-star to try to discourage people from seeing it, WELL........eat your hearts out, pick up your face and tuck your tail between your legs. THIS MOVIE WAS OFF THE HOOK!! I can relate to so much of it. I love Tyler Perry's work and I encourage everyone to support him as an strong, upcoming African-American. This movie was an excellent combination of laughter and drama with some powerful messages, and he truly has a God-given talent to mix them all and come out with a HIT! I'm overjoyed that it debuted and NO. 1 at the box office. With God, you can't go wrong. Tyler, keep it coming!!! You got my FULL support!
