Customer Reviews

If you like classical, this is a great CD; however, if you want to hear the drums3
Predominant in this movie, you're going to be disappointed. Only the last cut on this soundtrack is a drum session. While the music is lovely, I am very disappointed, because to me "The Visitor" is about a mix of both classical and African djembe.

The CD shown in this movie, which the character Tarek said: "This one started it all," is:

Open and Close by Fela Kuti

Open & Close/Afrodisiac

Great Expectations5
I bought this recording right after seeing this wonderful movie. The music in the movie was vibrant, exciting and hypnotic. Full of drumming! I was very much looking forward to listening to the soundtrack, assuming the same music would be included. It is not! The music is nothing like what was in the movie...there is only one selection that features drumming and it is the last cut on the CD. Having said that, however, I was very pleasantly surprised at what I DID hear: soft, classical violins and cellos. Very mellow and very meditative and relaxing. Lovely, in fact. Just not what the movie offered, so don't be disappointed. If you're looking for the exciting drumming that was in the movie you won't find it on this soundtrack.

Beautiful music5
The score to this film is so beautiful. I can listen to this and remember moments in the film that touched me. I love that Fela Kuti is included too!
