Product Description

Until the phone calls came at three o'clock on a November morning, the Golds and their neighbors, the Hartes, had been inseparable. It was no surprise to anyone when their teenage children, Chris and Emily, began showing signs that their relationship was moving beyond that of lifelong friends. But now seventeen-year-old Emily is dead—shot with a gun her beloved and devoted Chris pilfered from his father's cabinet as part of an apparent suicide pact—leaving two devastated families stranded in the dark and dense predawn, desperate for answers about an unthinkable act and the children they never really knew.

From New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult—one of the most powerful writers in contemporary fiction—comes a riveting, timely, heartbreaking, and terrifying novel of families in anguish and friendships ripped apart by inconceivable violence.

Love this book5
This is the first book that I've read by Jodi and I love It. It got me so wrapped in the story that I couldn't put it down. I have read several others by the same author and I must say they never fail to amaze me, this is a must read for anyone!!

Jodi Picoult is amazing!5
What a fantastic story. I could not put this down. It is not only beautifully written, but poses many questions about teen suicide. Especially those of us who have teenagers and think we know them and what they are thinking. A must read!

How Far for True Love?5
"The Pact" by Jodi Picoult is one of those books that you will never forget. Picoult points to what True Love should be about, along with examples of soulmates- how far would you go to make the one you love happy? At what point do you say, "Enough about what you want, what about what I want?"
This is a story about suicide vs. murder. It's a hard topic to discuss, but as Picoult often does- she flourishes with its descriptions and jumbles your mind - causing you to always second guess your original answers.
Picoult's story is wonderful. It has stayed with me for the past six months since I've read it. It's one of those books that you want others to read, but you don't want to lend it out at the chance of never seeing it again.
