| Charlaine Harris writes mysteries. She has been doing so for many years, most of them set in the South where she was born and raised. While she sold quite a few mysteries, both stand alones and series, she really broke through with her Southern Vampire Mysteries, with the main character Sookie Stackhouse. The combination of the supernatural walking the earth, both known and unknown, along with intriguing mysteries and an inside look into Southern society, makes for a fun series. It is also a complicated series, with more characters, situations and magic getting added. Definitely start at the beginning with this series. She has also started another series, starring Harper Connelly. There is a bit less Southern and supernatural in it, but it still has the intriguing mysteries. | ||
