Excellent, but be aware...4
There is some excellent chant here, and some of the contemporary music is striking. I bought this set for the CD, so I'm satisfied. Be aware however that the DVD will NOT work in your USA-bought DVD player, as it's European standard PAL, not NTSC.

Beautiful5
This album has traditional chant and improvisation in equal parts. Both parts are beautifully done. I have many chant albums, both from Eastern and Western traditions, and this is by far my favorite.

It's ok...3
It's ok if you want to know and see the abbey of Solesmes, but not if you want to take a deep look into the life of the monks that live there. I thought that this was a documentary on the monastic life there, but is more about the history of Solesmes, and it's involvement with the restoration of Gregorian Chant, which is indeed something important and nice to see. So if you want to see more about monastic life in France, or about good benedictine monks, I would suggest the new documentary made by the monks of Le Barroux. Blessings!
