![]() | Holst: The Planets
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $3.48 My absolute favorite recording of The Planets, great performance in every way and extraordinarily recorded. Yoel Levi has finally captured all the correct tempi in this very complicated large orchestral masterpiece. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra proves again, that they are a force to be reckoned with. Brilliant!

![]() | Holst: The Planets
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $3.71 An all time favorite among many. I still have this one on vinyl, but love it on CD. Until Yoel Levi recorded his Planets with Atlanta, this was the standard. It will remain rated among the finest recordings of The Planets ever made. Better if you can find it with the original cover art from the 1987 release.

![]() | Holst: The Planets
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $11.78 This performance and interpretation is much superior to Karajans 1981 release of The Planets with the Berlin Philharmonic almost 20 years later. So if you are a Karajan fan, you might want to opt for this disc. If you don't have this one, but have the other, I think you will greatly appreciate hearing the difference.

![]() | Holst: The Planets
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $4.00 James Levine is great here with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and their brilliant brass playing. This recording also has a wonderfully full and deep sound. Great DG engineering. You will enjoy turning this one up loud!

![]() | Holst: The Planets
Buy used from: $29.99 Another great bargain and great performance and one of the very early digital recordings of The Planets. This I understand was a standard for years and is still a very good disc. Listen to it and you will understand why. Great performance and great recorded sound.

![]() | Bernstein Century: Holst: Planets; Elgar: Pomp and Circumstance
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $3.19 Bernstein is Bernstein and leads one of the quickest tempos that Mars has ever seen. Big and heavy and the only recording with the New York Philharmonic as I believe.
|
![]() | Holst: The Planets; St. Paul Suite
Buy new: $7.98 / Used from: $4.98 Just got this recording and I was amazed that this performance is not among the highly rated. The best of 3 recordings available with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
|
![]() | Holst: The Planets / Vaughan Williams: Fantasia
Buy used from: $5.50 A great recording of The Planets along with the Tallis Fantasia of Vaughn Williams. Like the Groves Royal Philharmonic performance, I was surprised that this was not among the highly rated available recordings. An amazing bargain in addition to being a great performance.

![]() | Enigma Variations / Planets by Elgar
Buy used from: $27.50 This one is a another must have. Sir Adrian Boult led the premiere performance. This is one of his later efforts of a number of recordings and sounds very big and new in EMI's remastering.

![]() | Holst: The Planets; Egdon Heath
Buy new: $6.98 / Used from: $7.03 A surprise favorite, and what a bargain. The BBC Symphony and Andrew Davis are really great on this disc.
|
![]() | Holst: The Planets by Gustav Holst
Buy new: $12.98 / Used from: $6.99 Not the best recorded sound, but a very aggressive performance, and a very English performance. Mars is taken at a nice quick pace.

![]() | Holst: The Planets
Buy used from: $8.98 A very early Planets recording with Adrian Boult, circa 1945, and is of surprising quality for its age. It is interesting that this version is recorded at the end of WWII.
