Love It!
This study guide and the book that goes with it is truly a great find.
It got me form the first chapter and couldn't stop reading! It really makes you think and is food for the mind and spirit!Don't forget the book that goes with it..
Difficult Introspection
The American evangelical church is known for what we tend to be against. We are considered homophobic, and in many cases we are. While it is good to have a stand against what the Bible clearly describes as sin, we also tend to take a firmer stand against the sins that we don't practice.
This book forces us to examine our own lives for the sins that the church doesn't rail against. We may not be practicing homosexuals, but are we gossips? We may not struggle with drunkenness, but are we gluttons? Bridges rightly calls us to a biblical definition of holiness which goes far beyond what we have in today's American church.
Great study guide!
Respectable Sins is an excellent book and this study guide is a great companion to force one to think through what was read and apply it to life. I'm currently using this with a small group Bible study and the reading and homework are just the right amount of work for the women and provides topics for deeper conversation and accountability.
