From the Back Cover

All fly fishermen want to have the ability to reach out an extra five or ten feet with their line. The trout, tarpon, permit, or bass always seem at least that distance from one’s best cast, and there is no adequate solution other than learning to cast farther. Lefty Kreh’s Longer Fly Casting holds the key for any angler—beginner to near-expert—to refine his or her fly-casting technique for reliable accuracy over greater distances.
Through his revised text, and with numerous illustrations, Lefty analyzes the basic forward cast, explaining its different parts and dynamics, and builds on that to fully illustrate the double haul—the essential technique for targeting fish at your arm’s maximum range. Lefty also explains how to use a shooting head and how to overcome many common obstacles, including wind, trees, casting from boats, and more. Such skill minimizes the chance of scaring fish with too close an approach and also enables the angler to cover unwadable water, often resulting in much improved success.

Lefty Kreh is an internationally renowned and acknowledged master of the art and science of fly fishing. Now in a newly revised and expanded edition, "Lefty Kreh's Longer Fly Casting: The Compact, Practical Handbook That Will Add Ten Feet -- Or More -- To Your Casts" is certain to improve the fly casting performance of any angler. This 98-page, profusely illustrated instruction manual analyses the basic forward cast, explains its different parts and dynamics, and then builds on that to fully illustrate the essential fly casting technique for targeting fish at the arm's maximum range known as the 'double haul'. Of special note is the cogent explanation of properly using a shooting head and overcoming many common obstacles to successful fly casting including wind factors, trees, casting from boats, and more. "Lefty Kreh's Longer Fly Casting" should be considered mandatory reading for anyone seeking to improve their fly cast fishing performance. Also very highly recommend are Lefty Kreh's other fly fishing instruction manuals and guides: "Presenting The Fly"; "Fly Fishing in Salt Water"; "Saltwater Fly Patterns"; "Practical Fishing Knots"; "Solving Casting Problems", and "101 Fly-Fishing Tips".

Lefty Kreh's Longer Fly Casting Reviewed5
I've been fly fishing for many years but never really received much instruction at all. Needless to say my style is in need of work.

What I have manged to pick up over the years combined with the simple fundamental tools in Lefty's book have given me a greater ability to cast cleanly, accurately and pleasantly on a consistent basis.

A useful book for both beginner as well as experienced casters who want to improve their skills.

I like this book5
I really like this book. I just started fly fishing last year. And have been developing and learning my casting and fly fishing techniques. At the first of this summer I wanted to learn how to cast better, I found some videos online with Lefty Kreh giving tutorials on casting. From there I discovered this book and ordered it. I felt like some of his basic principles and concepts were the turning point for me in learning how to cast much better.
