Aquatronic is the first kitchen scale to weigh both liquid and dry ingredients in both metric and imperial. By using weight instead of the traditional cup/teaspoon measurements, the scale eliminates the need for multiple measuring cups and increases recipe accuracy. To make, for example, the dressing for potato salad, a bowl is placed on the scale, the on button is pushed, and then the MG/FL OZ button pushed. Mayonnaise is spooned into the bowl until 8 fluid ounces (recipes vary) is reached; the on button is pushed to reset, then 2 fluid ounces of vinegar is added. By pushing the KG/LB button, 4 ounces of chopped celery can be added into the same bowl, and so on. No other measuring devices are needed.

Like all of Salter's electronic kitchen scales, this one features a high precision strain-gauge weight sensing system, low battery indicator, add-and-weigh capability, and an auto zero function. Both automatic and manual shut-off are featured. The Aquatronic measures amounts weighing up to 11 pounds (175 fluid ounces; 5 kg) in 1/4-ounce (5 g) increments. Slim in profile, the scale measures 8-1/2 by 7 by 1-1/2 inches with a weighing platform of 5 by 6-3/4 inches. Included is a handy stand-up conversion chart for various foods (different kinds of flour, cornmeal, mayonnaise, ketchup, etc.) that gives standard cup measures and their equivalent measure in ounces or fluid ounces. This scale is a blessing and a curse!
This scale is a blessing and a curse for me. I love it but like the other reviewers have noted - it's shuts off too quickly. I also have accepted the fact that the scale measures in increments of 5, so it is not exacting. The methodology behind this scale is very cool and I can work with it despite its annoying limitations. That said, for folks looking for a recommendation - I would look for an alternative scale with more positive reviews.

Keeps shutting off - in the middle of pouring ingredients!
This scale would be great if it didn't shut off in the middle of pouring ingredients. I have followed recommendations of other reviewers and poured more quickly, didn't pause, etc. and it just doesn't matter. The scale shuts off as flour is hitting the bowl, so if I need to measure 7 oz, I'll get to 3 oz and then it will shut off. It is VERY frustrating and the help number on the manual is now going to AT&T, not Salter.

If you use 2 bowls to measure everything & constantly start over, it works. But it makes twice the mess and is four times as frustrating. I can't recommend this product, and wish there was a solution to the shut-off problem.

Great Value
I like this product. I think that for the money, it was a good investment. Whenever I have problems with the scale shutting off it is because I have not prepped my ingredients so that I am adding them too slowly. I like the look of scale and its size. I actually store mine on top of my toaster. I use my scale almost every day and I am pleased with the results.

My only complaint is that the grams are in increments of 5. I have some recipes that call for 62 g or 19 g of something, but being off by a few grams hasn't hurt the results.

The only other scale I considered before purchasing this one was the Soehnle Futura. The comparable model is $30 more and it's a pain to switch between ounces and grams.

As another reviewer noted, this scale would be perfect if you could use an AC adapter or disable the automatic shut off feature.
