Works.
My trackball on my 8100 pearl stopped scrolling up. I tried pulling it out and cleaning it, to no avail. I was a little suspicious whether this would fix the problem, but it did. It looks and fits just like OEM. It was pretty easy to install: just pry under the silver ring around the trackball, and the ring pops out. Then pry the smaller silver ring out, and then pop the trackball assembly out and pop the new one in. Not for those that are very technologically faint of heart -- but no harder than, say, adding memory to a computer. Google "blackberry trackball" and people have picture tutorials. I am just glad I did not have to get a whole new blackberry to fix the problem.

I researched having my trackball replaced in NYC and it was about $100. The other alternative was buying a new blackberry $200+.

It is so easy to remove the old trackball and replace with this part; literally two pieces. It is like having a new phone.

During our weekly staff meeting the other day I was having a little trouble with the trackball on my BlackBerry 8800. Skipping, sticking, jumping, it just wasn't performing the way it used to. Thousands of games of BrickBreaker had clearly taken its toll.

Now to find the new trackball! In the dark ages of human interaction before the internet I could have driven around wasting gas and checking out every mall kiosk that sells those cheap plastic phone covers. But no more! I found this miraculous little pearl of a device right here on the internet and had it shipped to my home for a ridiculously low price. It took about one minute to pop out the old ball and pop in the new one.
