This is a great chess computer. I like the way it plays. I am sure truly experienced players may find it too easy, but it has really helped me to utilize what I have been learning. I am seeing true progress!!

This book helped me to get started on tactics. If anything it helped me realize how much I needed to study tactics.

This book is AMAZING!! Going through this book increased my level of play like none of the previous books had. (although in all fairness the other books prepared me for this). This book is the latest one I have finished. I will add more as I finish more!

This was my first game collection focused on one person, and it was somewhat disappointing. The games were good and Morphy was brilliant but the layout and tone of the book never seemed to inspire me. Update: This book is very over rated! The annotations are not instructive at all! Beim's book on Morphy is better.

I just finished this book! It was a tad over my head but I think that is okay. There are 50 really interesting games to learn from in this and Giddins does a great job of annotating them for maximum instructional value!

This is the best book I have read in terms of immediate results since Logical Chess by Chernev. Work through this book with a board, and try to answer the questions as you go!!

Most major coaches say that you should study opening principles before delving into opening theory. This book was pretty good at that..NOT GREAT! I will post another opening book in a week or so.

This is an excellent tournament book where you can study the games of Steinitz, Pillsbury, Tchigorin, and Lasker among others. ps: You can get this for MUCH cheaper at various chess sites. Just look around a little!!

This is a wonderful book of master games annotated by the GM Paul Keres for the maximum amount of instructional value. His style of analysis was incredibly enlightening! I highly recommend this book! And it is cheap!

This was my second book on a specific opening. I like the Starting Out series so far. Some people say that these books are simplistic. They are! That is why they are great introductions to the different openings.

Wonderful game collection annotated by Frank J. Marshall himself. Marshall played some crazy attacking chess!! Highly recommended!

Tremendous book on tactics. Explanations are brief but clear. Puzzles are slightly more difficult than the Heisman book above. Great book to go through after Dan Heisman's book!

A very good primer on the French. The Chess Explained series is Gambit's answer to Everyman's Starting Out series. This book had great explanations and a lot of material for further study!

Very nice and instructional book of annotated games between anonymous Masters and Amateurs. The lessons are clear and sound! Not incredibly inspirational but very instructive.

Based on reviews here and elsewhere I stayed away from this program initially! I wish I hadn't. It is AWESOME! It is fun to play against and the tutorials are great!(still need Shredder as well!)

I should have read this book IMMEDIATELY following the Bobby Fischer teaches chess book! Great introduction to chess tactics!!

Nice book! I think the title is a little tongue in cheek BUT there are a lot great points and reminders in this book. And some nice MODERN annotated games.

A great set of tactics. Not quite at the intermediate level which was perfect for me!!

Superb book on tactics and checkmates! Great explanations, great complete games with annotations (usually focusing on the checkmate), and very educational puzzles! What more do you want?
