Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review
Crafted by Rubbermaid for extra-snug food storage, the Flex & Seal line features lids with flexible rubber rims. Easy to grip, the lids peel off easily, and they don't warp or crack like their hard plastic counterparts. Better still, they form a tight seal to guard against spills and help prevent spoilage. Clear on the top as well as the sides, the containers also make it easy to see what's inside at a glance.

This 3-cup round Flex & Seal container will get a lot of use, thanks to a size and shape that are handy for leftovers, on-the-go lunches, and prepped ingredients. Safe in the dishwasher on the top rack, it also goes in the freezer and can be used in the microwave for reheating. Numerous other sizes are also available. --Emily Bedard

PERFECT SEAL - grips tight and secure, yet easy to remove4
My two favorite types of plastic food storage containers are: (1) these Rubbermaid Flex & Seal containers (which always have the blue edge on the lid), and (2) the Lock-n-Lock brand which has a gasket in the lid and hinged flaps on the lid that lock onto little pegs on the side of the container.

Rubbermaid makes multiple lines of food storage containers, which vary in cost, durability, and security of lids. These are the best quality. We have owned several of this Flex & Seal type, in various sizes, for 3+ years, and are very happy with them.

The lid always stays securely on the container, with NO leaking, ever. My husband takes leftovers (such as spaghetti and sauce) in one of these containers, tosses it into his backpack, carelessly throws the backpack into the car, and the lid never comes off or leaks. We have also taken these containers to picnics.

Yet when it is time to remove the lid, it is easy, because the edges of the lid are flexible and rubbery, and on one corner there is a little tab to grasp.

No stains yet from tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, etc.
We usually wash these containers and lids in the dishwasher, only on the top rack off course. They have not shrunk or warped or gotten misshapen in the dishwasher. The lids still work great after a trip through the dishwasher.

My own complaint or concern, is the same concern I have with all brands of plastic food storage containers. Just about all brands have instructions now that say the container may be used for REHEATING food in the microwave. They don't say whether it is safe to COOK food in these containers in the microwave. Why not? Is there some danger? If there is, at what point is it dangerous? Some cooking is a lot like reheating. If we goof and overheat some leftovers too long, does something unsafe happen? Because of this unknown, I prefer to use glass containers to microwave. However, we still use these plastic containers when we want something that is easy to carry and won't leak.

When someone used a sharp knife to cut servings into food still in one of these containers, it left light scratches in the plastic; but that is to be expected from any see-thru plastic container, and the container remains usable and durable with the scratches.

Overall great quality for a reasonable price.

Love these5
I've had two of these great little containers for many years and they still look brand new so I've ordered some more from Amazon. I don't microwave them or put them in the dishwasher though because I don't want to subject them to the heat. I've had tupperware tops become unusable after dishwasher use.

The tops fit so snugly yet are easy to remove when needed. I used them as little storage containers on my counter tops sometimes because they are also very pretty for the decor (we have a French blue kitchen).

I noticed another person who asked why there was no mention of cooking them in microwave... all plastic gives off toxins when subject to higher heat. I always put cooled or cold food into these containers and use glass containers when re-heating or cooking in the microwave. As little storage bins I put uncooked rice or dried beans in them.

Excellent quality, great seal5
Excellent quality. Some of the other Rubbermaid Flex & Seal containers have more useful shapes and sizes. But this is great quality with strong seal.
