Product Description
This new devotional series by Elizabeth Lévesque draws upon the significant wisdom and insights of our great First Nations Chiefs. The author relates their wisdom, along with powerful truths from Scripture, to create 52 thought-provoking devotionals in each volume that will both inspire and challenge you. Hear the words of our great Native American leaders, both past and present: "When I was a boy the [Lakotas] owned the world; the sun rose and set on their land...Where are the warriors today? Who slew them? Where are our lands? Who owns them?...What law have I broken? Is it wrong for me to love my own? Is it wicked for me because my skin is red? Because I am a [Lakota]; because I was born where my father lived; because I would die for my people and my country?" -Chief Sitting Bull "Our people want to know about their own culture, but it cannot be handed to them on a piece of paper, or linked to a website. Our Indian identity is in our soul, and it must be conveyed from soul to soul. It is a way of living-a way of experiencing life. It is not 'book knowledge.'" -Chief Cecile Hansen, Duwamish

My two cents
I currently own and read both volumes of The Wisdom of the Chiefs by Elizabeth Levesque.
These two books are profound in the messages given by the selected chiefs.
The concepts for life and living, to treating each other with dignity and respect, to the need for honoring our words to other people are well spoken. These are books that are food for thought.
The use of Scriptures and the concepts for life are woven skillfully into each devotional.
I have found these devotionals challenging and also uplifting, Sincerely, Viva
