The Talks From the Heart series represents the development of an indigenous American Indian hermeneutic that affirms the sacredness of the scriptures while also affirming the sacredness of the traditional stories of the Native American people. Rather than being laid out in a three-point outline, you will find these "talks" are woven together, as a basket is woven, from the various beginning strands of Scripture, oral tradition, observation and experience, to arrive at generally only one overarching point, teaching or truth. You can take from what you find in these talks as you would a freshly cracked hickory nut. Gather all into your hand. Pick out the good to hold close to your heart. Blow the rest away with the breath of kindness. Know that whatever good you find is from Creator. Excellent for personal study, discussion groups or talking circles, each volume contains twelve powerful lessons that will speak to both Native America and non-Native American people alike. Prepare to hear and learn in a fresh, traditional way.

Customer Reviews
Wa do (Thank you) for Talks From the Heart!
I am very thankful for Talks From the Heart. Robert Francis has a unique way of using Indian stories, scripture, personal experiences & history to bring us lessons for living in our world today. He shows us how God has always loved, cared for, & communicated with all peoples. Although I could say positive things about all 12 lessons, my very favorite (in Volume 1) is the last lesson. It really communicates the awesomeness of our Creator to me. As a mixed-blood Cherokee follower of Jesus in the process of reviving & reclaiming my cultural heritage, I have found this book extremely helpful.
