Wings Over Water tells the whole story of the critical role naval aviation played in making the US a world power. Combining newly found archival footage from some of the biggest battles with lively interviews with veterans who were there, Wings Over Water conveys more than the facts: it is an emotional, powerful, heart rending story that still affects us today.

This information program tells the story of naval aviation and American foreign policy from the Teddy Roosevelt era to the present. It is a story of technological development, foreign relations, long-simmering international conflict and all-out war. It is also the story of vision, courage, and sacrifice.

Wings Over Water brings totally new understanding of how and why America developed this technology and what it means today.

This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.

American History Illustrated

The New York Times, John Corry
"Wings over Water is a provocative look at the history of naval aviation and is worth seeing."

Excellent5
I was waiting for this to come out on DVD. I first recorded this when it was presented on PBS more than 10 years ago. I watched the tape so many times that it wore out.

An excellent documentary of the history of US Naval Aviation. It spans the beginnings from WWI era biplanes landing on the first carriers through the modern day. But most of the time is devoted to when the Americans and Japanese were locking horns during WWII. Very well told.

Beware of this edition2
Beware of this edition of the DVD. There is another edition with a much fancier cover that has exactly the same disc inside but it sells for $6.99 which is a fair price for a documentary that adds some previously unseen footage but is definitely not worth the price of $29.95.Wings Over Water
