Amazon.com Product Description
Better than a backseat driver and a whole lot more accurate than dad's incoherent directions, the Dual XNAV3500P GPS navigator gets you where you need to go when you need to get there. Simply search for an address/intersection, point of interest, or previous destination on the 3.5-inch touchscreen interface, and the Dual navigator will calculate the most direct route. Then, once you start driving, the unit delivers turn-by-turn directions with both voice guidance and visual left/right indicators. The system even recalculates the route and gives you new directions should you make a wrong turn.

Internally, the XNAV3500P is equipped with a 12-channel GPS receiver, a Windows CE.Net (4.2) operating system, a powerful Intel 400 MHz processor, and 64 MB of internal memory, so it has no trouble redrawing maps at high speeds. And thanks to the Secure Digital memory card slot and included 1 GB SD card, you have plenty of space to store new maps and applications. The navigator even comes with a preloaded detail map of the entire U.S., complete with two million points of interest, including airports, banks, post offices, hotels, gas stations, rest stops, and much more.

Detail-oriented drivers will dig the trip recorder--which displays the miles traveled, the average speed, and the total driving time--and the split-screen option, which shows two sets of data at once. And the crisp 3D map (320 x 240 resolution) includes both day and night views and nine scalable levels for detailed and big-picture glimpses.

The XNAV3500P is more than just a navigator, however--it also serves as a MP3 player in a pinch, so you can listen to your favorite digital tunes while driving. Simply upload songs onto the included SD card and you're set. Additional features include a sliding-style suction mount that attaches to a windshield, a carrying bag, a cigarette lighter power adapter, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and a 2-watt internal speaker.

The XNAV3500P measures 5.1 by 3.2 by 2.2 inches (W x H x D) and carries a one-year warranty.

What's in the Box
GPS navigator, 1 GB Secure Digital card, quick-start guide, 12-volt DC adapter, USB cable, windshield mount, carrying bag, stylus, map database CD-ROM, Microsoft ActiveSync software disc, user's manual.

Great unit5
A cheaper option than the better advertised Tom Tom and Garmin systems, I think this one is just as good.

I actually bought it for my husband, but it has also proved extremely useful for me, a Brit living in the States.

The unit itself is a reasonable size, but not too big that it won't fit in my handbag when I leave the car. The screen is very clear, and the indicator lights are a great novelty, and very useful at night. The touch screen works well, the voice is clear and the maps appear to be very accurate. I recall on our first trip how we marveled at the map showing us reaching a bridge at the split second we passed under it!

It has far too many features for me to go into here, so I'll keep it short. A few things that spring to mind are it's ability to store addresses, it's flexibility if you decide to take a slight detour (eg to stop for food) it will recalculate your route, it advises you of speed limits and cautions you if you go over 5mph or so above that limit (though you can turn off those warnings!), it shows points of interest on the map as you are driving, as well as storing over 1 million points of interest that you can look up before you travel.

We have not had any major problems with it - it does exactly as it is supposed to do. One slight thing - occasionally, it will tell you to turn right or left, when the road actually has a sharp bend - or the other way around, it'll tell you to bear left or right when you actually need to make a turn that isn't quite a 90 degree turn, but we have not found this to cause any problems.

One thing it did do, on one trip - we were traveling on the interstate and decided to stop for food. Because we had just (unknowingly) passed a food stop, and it was closer to our current position than any up ahead, it tried to turn us back on ourselves. Again, not too drastic, but it could cause a little confusion. I think it just takes a bit of common sense, really. :)

Overall, I would recommend this system.

Highly recommend5
This is a great product. It does everything that a navigation system should do. Touch screen, with clear instructions for door to door directions.
