Customer Reviews

"Best in Class", Literally5
We recently built a new $40 million dollar middle school and involved participants form the administrative and teaching teams to evaluate several projectors in this price range before selecting the NEC LT380. Multiple vendors provided equipment to test side by side in a classroom environment as the team evaluated on the following points:
- Clarity
- Brilliance
- Color Accuracy
- Ease of Use
- Warranty
- Management

From a group of seven the NEC LT380, a Sony, and an Epson made it to the final list. Finally, the last three projectors were used in a classroom environment with a panel of eight adults and four students. Scoring was performed in a blind environment, that is each scorer was able to view the image, but was unaware of the name of the manufacturer while scores were entered and compiled.

The NEC LT380 was th choice of majority and a winner by far. These projectors are truly amazing at their price point, and each is in a class (classroom) of it's own with 65 installed as the primary media distribution device in our new school.

Students, teachers, and the community are excited about the multi-media experience these projectors bring into our classrooms. They have been in use for over a year without a single failure. Kudo's to NEC for an exceptional product that is easy to set-up and use, in addition, software is available that allows remote monitoring by way of our ethernet network.

Excellent for portable business use5
I've been using this projector for over a year and am extremely impressed by how reliable and versatile it is.
I travel frequently and it is light enough to carry on board and sturdy enough to put in a hard shell padded suitcase and check it with other luggage.
The 3000 lumen lamp displays bright, crisp images without being too bright to wash out the blacks.

The NEC LT380 is rather unique in that it performs equally well with text documents, PowerPoint-type slide shows, photography, and even video.
Prior to purchase I compared it to a dozen other projectors and the LT380 had the most connections of all with connectors for nearly every conceivable input source, ranging from composite video and component video to DVI.

Beyond the standard methods of connection, this was also the only projector to have both wired and wireless networking options. With standard wired networking, the projector can be remotely controlled, and it can also use a networked computer as a source with the use of included software. To enable wireless networking, you need to plug in a optional 802.11g wireless card to the PC card slot. Then, if you have a wireless network (or even just a wireless-enabled computer), the projector can accomplish all of the same tasks as it can when connected to a wired network.

I especially appreciated the horizontal and vertical keystone adjustments that worked well without too much digital distortion.

I noticed some issues with moiré and scaled fonts. These flaws were not very noticeable, but given that this projector did so well in everything else, they stood out in sharp contrast.

Unfortunately, all these features come at a high price. The features are no doubt unique, and those who need these features will perhaps not mind the high price.

Bottom Line
Extremely bright, loads of features, but maybe a little too expensive
