Exceptional as a gift, this professional wireless weather station is a meteorologist’s dream. The stylish main base unit, with built-in desk stand and hanging notch, receives and simultaneously displays data (in metric or U.S.) from the included four remote sensors, three of which are solar-powered with rechargeable lithium battery backup for measuring wind, rain, and outdoor temperature and humidity. The fourth sensor measures indoor temperature, humidity, and air pressure. Symbolic display of forecasts, graphical display of air pressure changes over the last 24 hours, and storing of minimum and maximum measured values for all sensors are just a few of the options shown on the base unit. Up to 39 alarms may be programmed for frost warnings, storm warnings, etc. Boaters or retired sailors will appreciate the ability to check wind speed in miles per hour, knots, meters per second, kilometers per hour, Beaufort scale, or wind direction in a 5° resolution instead of wind speed. Batteries not replaceable
I have a WS 2010 weather station that the coin batteries in the instruments have died after three years service. The same thing was reported by Gary Woltkamp. When purchising a weather station you want to make sure the batteries are a replaceable item.

Think Twice Before You Order
I ordered this unit 2 years ago. Now the wind speed unit no longer works because the battery is bad. Called the service unit at La Crosse about getting a new battery, they said to order a new wind speed indicator at $100, as no replacement battery was available. If you have a bad battery in your 2 year old Lexus would you junk it and get a new car! Of course not, you would replace the bad battery and drive it for another 10 years. Order from La Crosse only if you expect the unit to last 2 years and no help from their service dept. Typical of items made in China, no service aviable, if it goes bad buy a new one and help the Chinese economy and to hell with the U.S.A. and their people.

AWESOME Product
I have to say, when I bought this item I was so happy. I didn't sleep well when I ordered it because I was so ansy to test this out. I even live in an apartment and my landlord found me a spot for my sensors. GREAT Product thats all I can say...only thing bad about it is the 3 minute update but thats still alright. I'm getting over that. LOL So far no really bad issues and all my friends love it.
