Very nice watch
What you need to know when buying this watch:
It is exactly as advertised - a beautiful timepiece. Only negative: the brushed stainless steel on the band does scratch easily.
When I ordered the watch I chose the super saver option for shipping. FYI, Amazon will send it overnight anyway and still not charge for shipping. I'm guessing if I had asked for overnight it would have cost me, but by selecting super saver I still got overnight for free. They want to be able to track such an expensive item I'm guessing.
Final thought: you are purchasing an authentic TAG Heuer watch. However, you won't get the documentation/warranty from TAG Heuer like you would with buying it from a dealer. I needed to get my band adjusted and when I called a TAG dealer I got a lot of attitude and was told "even though it is an authentic TAG, we will not touch that watch or any TAG sold over the internet from an unauthorized dealer." (Apparently, TAG has not given their blessing to any internet sales. Probably to protect their dealers). However, there are plenty of jewelers that will take care of you, should you need it and Amazon does provide a warranty through a third party.
In the end, save $700 and buy it from Amazon.
Crazy to Buy anywhere but Amazon
I was looking for new watch price range under $3000.00; looked at alot of watches prior to choosing this one. I liked the appearance, durability factor and brand name that I trust. I would really suggest going to store to look at watch prior to buying based on photo only. They look either better or worse photo fails to capture aspects such as weight, build detail etc.
Went to several Tag authorized dealers all were at $1695 and would come off only $100.00 and eliminate sales tax. Paid $1079 at Amazon and selected next day delivery for total of $1093.
Take note that this watch is sold by Amazon, not some other internet seller, which means it is backed buy reputable amazon, 30 day return policy etc. I was apprehensive to buy from some unknown internet seller with disclaimers about serial numbers etc.
Dealer told me to beware of watches that not sold by authorized dealer because tag won't service if there is a problem.....called Amazon said since sold directly by Amazon they are authorized dealer.
Crazy difference in price 40% less on Amazon, jewlery stores are ripping people off. Only problem is that there are limited models sold directly by Amazon. However after browsing countless watches I was lucky they had specific one color and everything I wanted so for me was a no brainer.
Always happy with amazon service. Just wish they would broaden line of models they carry.
Everything a guy could want!
I'm one of those guys that are impossible to shop for. While I'm far from well off, I have enough cash to usually buy whatever minor gadget I'm fixated on. However, I couldn't bring myself to buy a watch of this caliber. My wonderful wife bought it for me for a wedding present, and boy do I love it.
First of all, definitely go with the watch with the blue face pictured above. The alternate model with the silver face blue dials is a bit harder to read, and IMHO doesn't "pop" as well as this watch. Also note on my browser the blue here looks more aqua. The blue on my watch is actually more of a royal blue sapphire color.
The watch has it all for me; substantially weighty, eye catching, shiny, versatile (Sporty, Casual and Dress), and it's a Tag! I went snorkeling and didn't even think twice. Watch comes packed in a cool presentation box. I'm sure this is minor - but even the glow in the dark hour markers remain easily visible throughout the WHOLE night. I like the way the date dial is conveniently positioned as well (Note the dial is positioned optimally for wearing on the left wrist).
Does Tag make sleeker watches? Sure they do. But in terms of a starter Tag, I'm not sure there is a better one. Maybe if I remain good through the 20 yr anniversary :)
