Buy used from: $34.19 This little program is under-utilized and under-appreciated. I have outlined an entire case on it in less than thirty minutes, complete with copies of exhibits.
There is no OneNote for Mac, put there are good outlining and organizing programs that work pretty well. OneNote remains the gold standard.

It does some things a bit better than OneNote does for Windows, but on the whole it is still a step below. I did successfully organize a major trial in a Notebook. It provides a word indexing feature that is very useful.
