taking sexual bliss into our hands . . . literally
What does a wealthy prosecutor, young tasty porn star, and savvy PR princess have in common? What most women want . . . sizzling sex with explosive orgasms. Sadly, there is an unfair tradeoff. These tantalizing rendezvous have induced a medical phenomenon called LLS--Lovers' Lobotomy Syndrome--where in exchange for good sex these women are being suckered into one-sided relationships with selfish, conniving men.
Fortunately, there is a savior with a master plan. Dr. Pat Rizzo, empowered sex therapist, is determined to help liberate these women. With a little coaxing, she and the wounded love slaves create The M.O.O.D Lounge, a sexual independence movement that encourages frustrated women to slip out of their lust induced comas, evaluate their emotionally unfulfilling relationships, and join the journey to sexual freedom.
In The M.O.O.D Lounge, Zondra Hughes conveys the need for sexual liberation through poignant, yet erotic scenes that lure readers into the lives of battered souls--only to challenge them to search their own private closets for oppressed sexual injustices. From the very beginning, readers will find themselves drowning in the despair of stupefying sex, bombarded with pleas of frustration and vivid incidents of abuse that are at times a bit overwhelming. Luckily, Hughes rescues us with the introduction of B.O.B. (Battery Operated Boyfriends), Dr. Rizzo's symbol of sexual independence, and encourages us women to take sexual bliss into our hands, literally . Readers are even graced with manuals and references to help women achieve the Big "O". By the end of the book, I found myself sighing in relief, dreaming of starting my own movement in the South.

(RAW Rating: 3.5) - Sexual Healing
Dr. Pat Rizzo notices a growing trend among women- they are being sexed into stupidity. In other words, they are willing to tolerate a relationship with a man who brings nothing to the table. Women are supporting men who do not work, who will not respect them and who are not faithful to them in order to have explosive, toe-curling sex. She conducts a study and finds several women suffer from Lovers Lobotomy Syndrome (LLS) which is "a condition that causes women to become extremely passive and agreeable after an invigorating sexual encounter".
Dru Vidal, Fawn LaFollette and Eva James, each have the highest levels of LLS of the survey participants so Dr. Rizzo develops case studies with these ladies. Each of them share personal information via confessionals, diary entries and interviews. Each lady is then analyzed and prescribed therapy sessions in the M.O.O.D. (Multiple Orgasms On Demand) Lounge which is to promote sexual independence. After completing the sessions, they return to discuss how their lives have changed since the experience.
THE M.O.O.D. LOUNGE is an erotic read that will generate interesting conversation. This is the first book in a trilogy and Hughes captivates the imagination of the reader. The layout of the book causes it to read more like a self-help manual as opposed to a book of fiction. The characters have so many issues that it is difficult to warm up to them. They come off as truly stupid, which is what Hughes was trying to convey. There is also a manual in the back of the book with tips to help others if they find themselves in the same situation. This is a totally fresh concept from a new voice in erotica.
