BEWARE, CHEAP HINGES1
I purchased the Delegate II from e-bags (same price listed with Amazon) about 18-months ago to replace the Samsonite Broker GL which I carried every day for 15 years. Recently, I had trouble locking/closing the Delegate, and papers were actually coming through the bottom, between the hinges. WTF? I asked myself, the Broker GL lasted 10 times as long (and it still works). The difference? The earlier version has piano hinge, the Delegate has two cheap hinges. Granted, I am extremely rough on my briefcases, but I can gaurantee you that the gorilla from the old, 1970's TV commercial would not be happy, and neither am I. So, I polished up my old Broker GL and am using it until I can verify that another Samsonite (maybe the Focus III?) has piano hinges. SAMSONITE, IF YOUR LISTENING, HOW MANY PENNYS DID YOU SAVE BY NOT USING PIANO HINGES ON THIS PRODUCT? CONSUMER ADVISE: DELEGATE II IS A PIECE OF JUNK, BUY A $30.00 OFF BRAND, IT WILL LAST ABOUT AS LONG AND SAVE $60.00.
