The Mis-Fortune's Of A Mistress Game. (token)
Three girls who go through terrible mishaps in life end up as orphans at a young age. Elise, Aparis, and LaKiesha all had goals and dreams as being teen girls, but instead they found themselves going through terrible mishaps and left without family. A bond was formed and 3 orphans became 3 hard go get sisters. An organization was formed and hustling on the mean streets of Cleveland became a way of life and survival was the key. Ruling was left to Elise the head of the organization that kept things together. From beat-downs, dealing with snitches, murders, and even falling in love, these 3 was unstoppable, and the game they played was by their rules only. If you dare go against them there was repercussions that would soon follow.
Thinking they had the world in their hands, no matter how hard they tried to forget the painful mishaps that orphned them wouldn't let them forget, and putting the past ghost away forever becomes their only way of escape.
Mistress Of The Game is a ride or die diva book. It forces one to look at their life and think anything can happen at anytime and change your life forever. Each character was well developed and one could easily identify with their misfortunes. I found myself applauding these diva's because they each had their own excuses for doing what they had to do to survive. At times I also found myself wishing there was more action. It was a very good book for this author's first novel and I would recommend it.
cold blooded book
got this book and didn't put it down until i was finished and it truly held my attention from start to finish. alot of action and drama involving three Women who are in the game and hustling and making that Money. very gripping and raw book from start to finish.the life and the day to day grind is no joke and this book gives it all on the real and thensome.
Beauty, Brains And Revenge
In Mistress of the Game, Sherrie Walker introduces readers to Elise, Aparis and LaKiesha, three teens who lost their parents through violence. Elise and LaKiesha became best friends at St. Henry's Orphanage. The orphanage proved to be far from loving and both girls were forced to grow up very quickly in order to survive. Aparis joined the trio after the death of her caretaker, Aunt Garnett.
All three girls were very different. Aparis was excellent with computer technology and games; LaKiesha was good in finances; and Elise, who was the brains of the operation, could read people's body language and she mastered the game of hustling. With the help of LaKiesha's brother, Que, the trio help established one of Cleveland's most lucrative drug cartels. After the death of Que, Elise took charge and the group grew. Elise decided it was time to get out while they were ahead. The group, however, did not anticipate dealing with the ghost of their past. Suddenly, the game becomes more deadly.
Mistress of the Game is a definite page-turner. When these three women set out to do something, it was done quickly and with little conversation. The reader will be able to relate with each woman, her struggle to survive and her reason for revenge. Walker also put a lot of emphasis on friendship and family. Only minor distraction was the author's description to every piece of clothing the characters wore. This was a wonderful story to read and I will definitely look forward to reading Walker's next book.
