Let this be your bible! You can pass the boards, and pass them well, with only the information in this book, plus a little time to learn. The questions' character, difficulty level, range of topics covered, number devoted to each topic, and even some specific questions themselves, are identical to the actual exam. The only exception to this is that the exam has much more on ethics.

Your physical assessment textbook is your core text for board review. If you begin early enough, I recommend re-reading the whole thing. If not starting a year early, you still need this book as you move through Fitzgerald. Look up every single exam technique that feels somewhat rusty to you. Can't emphasize this enough with the orthopedic and neurological examinations!

Once you have been through Fitzgerald and have re-tried all of your circled items once, you should probably start trying some other review books. This book I found to be very useful. The format of this book is similar to Fitzgerald's book, with questions followed by a brief review, although it may be in reverse order - I cannot remember.

Provides overview of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and follow-up care for the most commonly-encountered problems in the primary care setting. Remember, however, that it is a textbook, so it is out-of-date as of the day it was printed. So while the concepts and basics remain unchanged, running a quick literature search may turn up new and improved treatment options.
