![]() | Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination And Practice Preparation by Margaret A. Fitzgerald
Buy new: $45.86 / Used from: $45.00 Let this be your bible! You can pass the boards, and pass them well, with only the information in this book, plus a little time to learn. The questions' character, difficulty level, range of topics covered, number devoted to each topic, and even some specific questions themselves, are identical to the actual exam. The only exception to this is that the exam has much more on ethics.

![]() | Mosby's Guide to Physical Examination by Henry M. Seidel
Buy new: $77.45 / Used from: $58.95 Your physical assessment textbook is your core text for board review. If you begin early enough, I recommend re-reading the whole thing. If not starting a year early, you still need this book as you move through Fitzgerald. Look up every single exam technique that feels somewhat rusty to you. Can't emphasize this enough with the orthopedic and neurological examinations!

![]() | Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary (Thumb Index) by Donald Venes
Buy used from: $3.99 Use this to look up every single term in the review book that you are not familiar with... absolutely necessary! This will serve as your anatomy and physiology review.

![]() | Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Review by Pamela Stinson Kidd
Buy new: $56.02 / Used from: $34.98 Once you have been through Fitzgerald and have re-tried all of your circled items once, you should probably start trying some other review books. This book I found to be very useful. The format of this book is similar to Fitzgerald's book, with questions followed by a brief review, although it may be in reverse order - I cannot remember.

![]() | Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination: Review Questions and Strategies by Jill E. Winland-Brown
Buy used from: $15.98 Extremely difficult questions, much harder than you will have on the boards, but good in that you will learn while looking up the stuff you don't know. No flash cards for this book either! If you are consistently getting 65-70% right in this book, you are probably ready for the boards. Book has multiple errors towards the end, especially in cumulative tests.

![]() | Clinical Guidelines in Family Practice by Constance R. Uphold
Buy new: $70.00 / Used from: $67.76 Provides overview of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and follow-up care for the most commonly-encountered problems in the primary care setting. Remember, however, that it is a textbook, so it is out-of-date as of the day it was printed. So while the concepts and basics remain unchanged, running a quick literature search may turn up new and improved treatment options.

![]() | Mosby's Physical Examination Handbook (Discontinued(Seidel, Mosby's Physical Examination Handbook)) by Henry M. Seidel
Buy new: $31.90 / Used from: $26.00 The quick companion to the text- will be of use to you in your practice, if not now. One hint - common question is the name of the condition in which a white circle forms surrounding the pupil, but is a sign of a lipid disorder in younger people... look up the answer! Know how to test one's vision, and what 20/20 vision really means, literally!
