Customer Reviews
Worth every penny
I rarely write reviews but couldn't miss the chance to champion this product. Over a year ago a natural health practitioner had told me to try a neti pot for my terrible allergies and chronic sinus problems, but I thought it was just one of those New Age fads or something. In the last few years my allergies have gotten so bad that I can only breathe through my mouth most of the time. I decided today to give this a try. I can see it's going to take some getting used to, but after only two washes I can't believe the difference. I can completely inhale through my nose for the first time in months, if not years. Not to gross anyone out, but the amount of crud that was washed out of my sinuses was both amazing and satisfying - proof that it works. I can see why people are raving about this product, it accomplished in one day what antihistamines, drops, breathing strips etc. have not done for me in years, and without ANY side effects or risks. Already I feel so much more energetic, that's because I'm finally getting the full benefit of oxygen! It is a tad uncomfy I'll admit, rather like the sensation of accidentally inhaling water in your nose in the pool. Then for awhile afterwards, the nose and sinuses are still draining so you need to keep a tissue handy. Small inconvenience for the luxury of air. Those who have chronically stuffy noses know what I mean.
Very Good Relief
Most people reading this are bound to be curious as to what exactly this is / does. I know I was. Basically, you pour a saline solution up one nostril which (if you keep breathing through your mouth -- a mistake I made only once!) will come out of the other nostril, irrigating and cleaning it of most irritants and other things. It's very good for allergies, colds, and anything that has to do with the nasal passages.
The first time I used this, honestly, I felt like an idiot with salt water coming out of my nose. Now, after a few tries, it's second nature and relieves me of most of my sinus problems including allergies.
This is a good neti pot since it is dishwasher safe and tough to break, but you might want to consider making your own solution once the packets are used up-- just make sure you use non-iodized salt (there are good recipes for solution available on the web -- just google "neti pot solution").
Use and enjoy breathing better!
The little pot that could!
After seeing Dr. Oz on Oprah with the "nose bidet" (aka neti pot) I decided to try it and ordered it here. I've suffered with sinus problems and allergies all my life.
I can't say this is an earthshattering change BUT I've been able to stop taking my prescription nasal steroid spray AND my morning antihistamine - I still take a Benadryl at night but I'm thrilled to be able to cut way back on prescription outlay.
It's a rather strange feeling to pour water into your sinuses, but you do get used to it. You also have to get a feel for what water temperature you prefer - I've done both too hot and too cold and it's not a pleasant feeling! ;-) But now that I have the hang of it, I'm pleased with the results and will continue using it daily!
