In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, the second installment of this superb series, you wage battle against Kaptain K. Rool and his vast army of Kremlings. The incredible Advanced Computer Modeling (ACM) graphics in this game have been specially optimized for the Game Boy. If you play this game with the Super Game Boy accessory for the Super NES, you'll have access to specially selected color palettes and custom border graphics.
As the story begins, K. Rool has kidnapped Donkey Kong, and he's demanding the entire Banana Hoard as ransom. It's up to Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong to rescue their kidnapped pal. A wild assortment of friendly animals like Rambi the Rhino, Squitter the Spider, Squawks the Parrot, Rattly the Rattlesnake, and Enguarde the Swordfish help the two little monkeys in their adventurous mission through over 40 levels. Each exciting area is filled with special traps, hidden items, and dastardly Kremlings.
People who have played Donkey Kong Country 2 on the Super NES will recognize many of the elements of this game. For example, Diddy Kong can do his signature cartwheel, and Dixie Kong can do her helicopter hair spin. And, you'll need to collect Kremcoins to be able to pass Klubba's Kiosk and get on to the Lost World. But, unlike the game's Super NES counterpart, one character cannot throw the other, and it's only a one-player game. Of course, you can always pause the game and hand it to a friend if you want some two-player fun!

Even better than the first one!
In the original Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong went on an adventure to try and get their mounds of bananas back, but this second adventure will be a bit different.
The Kongs' biggest villain, Kaptain K. Rool (a huge crocodile) has taken Donkey Kong as a hostage, so it's up to Diddy Kong and his girlfriend, Dixie Kong, to get him back.
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is a lot like Donkey Kong Country, except that it's even better. It didn't seem possible at the time for a 16-bit game, but this one has even better graphics than the original, better sound effects and music, and it's even more fun. There are new, helpful characters such as Wrinkly Kong (who saves your game), new animal buddies such as a snake with major hangtime, an awesome spider who has really got the science of web-making down to an art, and Rambi the rhino and Enguarde the swordfish are back and better than ever! Oh yeah, Dixie Kong is new too. She can twirl her head full of hair, which enables her to fight the force of gravity for a little while.
But what really makes Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest even better than the original is that it has more levels, and a lot more variety. There are even more secrets, more gameplay elements, and bigger and meaner bosses. When it comes to gameplay, the levels are more interactive, and there are a lot more things to collect and do. Instead of just collecting tons of bananas and extra lives (there's still a bunch of those waiting to be collected), there are 75 Kremcoins, a specially hidden DK coin in each level, and more, that gives this game unbelievable replay value.
Just like Donkey Kong Country, Diddy's Kong Quest is a 1-2 player game. You can play by yourself, or you can play with a friend in either competition mode or team mode.
In my book, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is the best game in the series, and not only is it one of the best games for the Super Nintendo, and one of the best platformers, it's one of the best video games of all time. If you liked the original, or if you like action/adventure games that never get old, I recommend getting Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. You will NOT regret it!
One of the best platformers for the SNES.
If it weren't for that stupid kid's negative review, the overall score would be a perfect 5. Looks like he's afraid of the challange. He's also scared of the music. I hate kid's reviews...
Graphics:10/10: A beautiful feast for the eyes. The graphics look better than the first!
Music:10/10: Great music! From the pirate-y music in the first world, to the spooky tune of Gloomy Gulch.
Sound:10/10: Just gotta love Diddy's monkey rap!
Gameplay:10/10: This time, you got Diddy and Dixie. They can now team-up and find secrets! You can also look for coins and get things such as hints, lost levels, or making Cranky like you!:) There is also a quiz from Swanky! You can save at the Kong Kollege, but make sure you carry some banana coins!
Overall, better than the first. Also, this game is going to be rereleased for the GBA later on! Buy it!
Excellent game!
In my opinion, this is the greatest of all the DKC games out there. A much better adventure, and two different endings. Not to mention the new Dixie Kong. She's probably the best character of all the DKC games. You can do more stuff, and there are many more levels to explore. Like "The Lost World" levels. Collect all 75 Kremkoins (You'll probably need a players guide for that), and you can get the alternate ending. You need to rescue DK. This is my favorite Final Boss fight in all the DKC games too. This was a thrilling game.
