How to take liquid fish oil...
Fish oil capsules cause me to have fish oil after-burps (yuck!), which make me avoid taking fish oil at all. I prefer Carlson's fish oil, but only because I learned the trick of how to swallow a teaspoon of it without gagging.
Have a glass of water or juice handy. Measure out your teaspoon of oil in a tablespoon sized spoon, so you have less chance of spilling it. Take the teaspoon of fish oil in to your mouth, let it gather under your tongue, but do not swallow it until you take your glass of water and wash it down. I take the fish oil before I eat breakfast. No fish burps later. You can do it. It is worth it.
The lemon flavor only partially masks the fishiness of the oil, but it is better than pure fish smell. I think Carlson's fish oil is an excellent product, pure and fresh.
Need Fish Oil? This is a decent option..
I started taking fish oil for the benefits, but knew it was a mess and a nasty taste. I looked at how many pills I'd need to take to achieve my dose, and groaned. So I decided it'd be easier to try to swallow the liquid which came out to only a few milliliters.
It worked out at first, but eventually the orange and the lemon flavored got old. I tried both and I couldn't keep it up. I even spilled the bottle a couple times, and it was not fun to clean up. I needed to use pet odor remover eventually to get the smell out which smells of fish if left out.
I drank the fish oil by syringle, drank a liquid to chase it, and often chewed on gummy bears to remove the flavor. It worked for a few months, but realistically, the pills may have been the better idea. I did not really have many fish burps with this brand of fish oil, especially if I ate food with the oil.
If you need an alternative, I suggest eating Flaxseed itself, or flaxseed oil. It is not a perfect alternative, and is more ALA potent, but do your research and decide. I currently grind flaxseed raw and put it in cerael.
Best on the block
Carlson's Laboratories has an undeniably, wonderful, high quality product, which is something that should always be forefront when choosing nutritional products. Carlson's has also mastered the corner on making their liquid Omega Fish Oils easy to take. The ever so slight fish taste is dressed with a spritz of citrus and so easy to swallow. The flavor is just not bad at all, especially when compared to the big bulky capsules that later produce those big fishy burps. It is hard to believe that anyone would find this product hard to take. Maybe it is the oiliness of the product? If this is so, there is a very easy solution. A warm/hot (not steamy hot) cup of lemon water or lemonade will wash it right down for you. I find it refreshing. I don't see what the beef is about in taking this product? With the new research regarding the benefits of Omega oils we should all be jumpting to get our hands on something of this quality. My husband and I have both seen the results. My husband recently brought his dangerously high cholesterol / triglyceride problem down into normal range after using Omega oils for 3 months. This was along with exercise, lipid medication which he has taken for year, and at the advice of his doctor. We are ecstatic. As a side note, if I can get him to take a product then anyone can do it. I personally suffer from a painful form of arthritis and fish oil therapy has really helped me. My pain level had decreased and I have noticed greater range of motion. Knowing how it helps me, I look forward to taking it daily. I can't imagine not having a bottle of this product in my refrigerator and a replacement on the pantry shelf. I know if you will give it a try you will be as pleased of a customer as we are.
