Album Description
Black Devil are an Electronic/Disco duo who operate under the pseudonyms of Joachim Sherylee and Junior Claristidge. In reality the group comprises Bernard Fevre and Jacky Giordano, two French producers of library music. The group's 1978 debut album, Disco Club was unearthed by Rephlex and rereleased in 2006. Many doubted the authenticity of the record, due to its futuristic sound. In 2004, Rephlex released a remix album with Luke Vibert taking on taking on the lead remix under his disco acid alias Kerrier District. After the release, the group reformed under the name Black Devil Disco Club and they have since performed live as well as released three additional albums, 28 After, Black Devil In Dub and Eight Oh Eight all released on Lo Recordings.

Customer Reviews

Surprising and grows on the listener4
I always heard of Black Devil Disco Club, and from the weirdest of sources, which is pretty reasonable seeing how the sources come from different preferences other than disco. The first time "Eight Oh Eight" was in my CD player, it rubbed off the wrong way. The music sounded simple, but then as the first track continued through, I found myself digging the dancable, yet dark, atmosphere of the track. From then on, the rest of the album gelled with me, and even though I don't acknowledge any kind of technical achievement here, there is a sense of quality that is uncovered for the less conventional listener. Every listen after has given me new reasons to enjoy this album, but the first listen is the hardest, and the best track belongs to "Is Sorrow". I recommend it for anyone looking to find a worthy album to add as the next guilty pleasure.

Discoy Goodness4
Nice little EP. Nothing outstanding or as good as On Just Foot, but all very solid tracks.

Also, worth nothing that the quality of Amazon MP3s is EXCELLENT. FAR SUPERIOR to iTunes. It's gotten to the point where I can't even DL from iTunes anymore because I'm tired of the poor sound quality.

So I started buying from Amazon and am very, very happy with their MP3 quality. If you haven't tried DLing MP3s from Amazon I highly recommend it.

And no, I don't work for Amazon. ;)
