Product Description

Elvin Estela, a.k.a. Nobody, has worked with Niki Randa since 2001 and chose her to provide vocals on this release. "Blank Blue" is the surreal story of an Armageddon born out of a massive earthquake that separated the coast from the rest of the US, where survivors learned to live underwater and had to start again; learning how to breathe, swim, etc. Pressed to pigeonhole the album, Estela says, "I would describe it as psychedelic bass music." RIYL: Caribou, Kelpe, Savath & Savalas, Daedalus, Flying Lotus, Boards Of Canada.

Customer Reviews

Well, it really is good!5
It's not what I expected going in, because when I saw them live they were playing math rock and this album is trip hop, but my god is it very good.

A warm washing of soulful excellence5
This is an amazing album to me. Not sure why but it just grabs and clings on in a haunting sort of way. The vocals are beautiful and really bring it all together.

Elvin Estella continues to grow as an artist5
I've been following the work of Nobody (Elvin Estella) since his Soulmates debut, and I'm always amazed by how much the guy keeps evolving. All of his albums are different, sometimes radically so - what a refreshing change from musicians who mine the same groove over and over again. A true artist. I must say I enjoy all of his work. His arrangements are very innovative, and he is very skilled in creating atmospheres. All around talent. With this work, the vocals are perhaps not anything special, but they have the huge advantage of not being irritating/destructive (and "irritating/destructive" happens in about 95% of all cases in music like this). And here again I love the music, the intricate instrumentals and the impeccable production by EE. He's one of the few artists whose CDs I buy without listening to them first - I trust him, he's proven himself time and again (and I buy new, not used CDs, to support the artist). I'm looking forward to his next CD.
