Editorial Reviews

Album Description
LONDON ELEKTRICITY have become a byword for groundbreaking 'fast soul music', ramming venues, destroying drum & bass crowds, leaving huge smiles all over the world. Tony Colman manages to combine heartfelt soul, with a level of musical literacy and emotion unparalleled in Drum & Bass. Put simply, no one is more musical and soulful in Drum & Bass than this act and their appeal stretches well beyond the D&B market.

An interesting take on the DnB I listen to5
London Elektricity first popped up on a Pandora station a couple of months ago for me. The station was originally created in May of '09 using "Prep Gwarlek 3b Remix" by Alarm Will Sound and "The Hopeless Pursuit of Remission" by Venetian Snares as seeds. So after several months of thumbs upping different songs, it's taken me from IDM/Breakcore to a generalized Drum N' Bass/jazz influenced area. I was introduced to London Elektricity via "The Land that Time Forgot" in August...couple months later, it gives me "Attack Ships on Fire" and "Sat Nav" in October.

Now I finally bought and listened to a London Elek album, I can say that it's a slight departure over what my Pandora station was giving to me (jazzy drum n bass without lyrics). Last.fm says that some listeners have tagged it as "liquid funk"...I'd say that's a better description for this than just "Drum and Bass" (this definitely isn't Pendulum, for instance :-p). However, I definitely like what I'm hearing here and will most likely use some of these songs as seeds (or heck, maybe I'll just make a London Elek/liquid funk station). The entire album is very good, but tracks 2, 3, 5, 8, and 11 stand out the most to me.

Hearing this album has convinced me to get Power Ballads, which is also an excellent album. This kind of music has such an amazing mix of classical, jazz, drum and bass, even R&B-ish elements. Very good stuff all around and highly recommended to fans of any kind of music that's remotely similar.

Good Album, great title track!5
Well I first got ran into to London Elektricity with the song "Fast Soul Music". A reviewer said it was the best drums and bass tune he has heard. I got it and really liked it. Rather gripping. Well, tunes number 3 (Just One Second) and 11 are just great. The whole album works, but I like those the best. The title tune, #11 Syncopated City Revisted, is real catchy, along the lines of Fast Soul Music. I just like drums and bass done this way. I have all their (well, Tony Colman's) London Elektricity music. Some hits some misses. And this hits and puts me in a good mood. I can roll with their misses too. The MP3 exists for this on Amazon. A good option.
