Product Description

A love of sculpting sound in front of an audience is at the heart of Mountains, who have been compared to Brian Eno and Fennesz. Mountains seamlessly blend pastoral electronic sounds with both field recordings and a plethora of acoustic instruments. The resulting soundscapes are rich in detail, hypnotic, and sublime. "Infinite sheets of grainy sound build and renew themselves to immensely pleasing effect" - Wire. Double LP limited to 1,000 copies and includes two tracks not on the CD. Also includes free download coupon.

Customer Reviews

Very good5
There are only 6 tracks on this album, but its plenty of music.

Mountains - 'Choral' is ambient/instrumental, but it is unusual because it is a very warm album. Its primarily acoustic, and unlike most ambient albums it doesn't sound lonely and distant. It reminds me of childhood and the simple fascination that accompanies it. The album is not stressed, and is content to meander through various soundscapes and touch upon different emotional resonances.

I like all of the songs about equally, but 'Telescope' is the one that I really made a connection with.

Technically, the genre is ambient, but this album should be placed somewhere near Animal Collective, and the other related artists that don't have a set system/agenda. I wish somebody would come up with a name for this type of music as Indie isn't a very descriptive or discerning adjective

....Have fun blissing out....

If you're looking for some cold, emotionally distant ambient, check out Harmony in Ultraviolet or Glider (I've had 'Glider' for 2 weeks, and I highly recommend it if you're into that stuff)
