The best alternative rock album ever made. Every facet of this album is perfect in every conceivable way, from song-writing, production, performance and emotional resonance. Covers all emotional territory, from fear, depression and sorrow, to happiness, glory and joy. Produced by Nigel Godrich (as has every other Radiohead album), he is their unofficial fifth member.

Billy Corgan wrote something like 75 songs for this album, many of which were released in the box set "The Aeroplane Flies High." Taken as companion pieces, they are THE penultimate alternative rock records of the 90s. Fury, passion, despair, happiness, love, and hate, these albums cover it all, from heavy metal to classical.

Staggering. Covers a lot of emotional and musical ground. Some of the best songs Reznor has ever written appear on this album. This is musically his finest album, but the scathing "Downward Spiral" and "Pretty Hate Machine" are excellent and must have records as well.

Absolutely essential. Outstanding musicianship. This album rocks like few others do. Intelligent metal. Also amazing are "Undertow" and "Lateralus". Three of the greatest rock/metal albums ever made, courtesy of one prodigious band.

My second favorite album from them. "Moya" is one of the most amazing songs of all time. Also get their double LP "Lift Yr SKinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven" and prepare to be absolutely floored. Hundreds of imitators have followed in this band's footsteps. They are credited with creating the "Post-Rock" genre though the band despised that label.

Dark, moody, amazing. The term "wall of sound" will have a new meaning for you. If you can find a copy of the out-of-print "Ep+2", buy it at any cost. The reworked version of that album (Ep+6) also contains the "For Satin" ep, which is inexplicably placed BEFORE the original EP, which is a SCRAMBLED version, completely destroying the flow and vibe of the original.

Some of the most beautiful songs of all time (1,3,4 and 8). A slow monolith of an album. Get "Takk" and "Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust" for equally as beautiful, but more energetic and rocking Sigur Ros. One of the most beautiful and original bands of all time.

Very very hard to describe. EXTREMELY beautiful, sad minor-key compositions accompanied with drum machines and narrations of debauchery. Prepare to laugh, damn near cry, and zone out to these incredible albums: "The Red Thread," "Monday at the Hug & Pint" and "The Last Romance." I dare you to hear "Screaming in the Trees" and not cry.

Amazing, instrumental jazz rock band. All of their material is recorded as a live band. EPIC, horns strings guitars, two drummers. Extremely creative and intelligent. Beautiful and moving, you have never anything like this album.

The most beautiful, spiritual, gorgeous album you have never heard. This album came out in 89, and there has not been anything else that has sounded like it to this day. Considered by some critics to be among the best albums of all time. The band went from a new-wave 80s group to a spiritual entity in just one album.

Triple LP with three albums containing three different styles of Waits songcraft. "Bastards, Brawlers and Bawlers" the latter of which has some of the best ballads ever written. For more ballady stuff, get "Alice." The man has more than twenty albums, so don't tell me you don't like his voice, because he sings in a different voice on every song and every album. There's something for everyone.

A calmer, gentler side of Sonic Youth. Mature, beautiful, minimallistic. One of my all-time favorite albums. Other recent SY gems include "Sonic Nurse" and "Rather Ripped" both of which do a great job integrating new and old school SY aesthetics. Other great albums: "Sister," "Daydream Nation," "Goo" and "Dirty."

Wow. Just wow. Their finest. Beautiful, sophisticated, intelligent, multi-layered. Only comparison is Radiohead, but the Lips are an entirely different machine. Their newest, "Embryonic" is considered by many to be their best since this one, and I agree: electro-fusion, controlled chaos. Beauty in insanity. Nothing else in the world that sounds like it.

Beautiful orchestral blues-rock. Like your music layered and atmospheric? This band utilizes strings, horns and even gospel choirs. Be sure to hear "Lazer Guided Melodies" and "Let It Come Down" for some of the most amazing and soaring music you'll ever hear. If you're smart, you'll just buy "Spiritualized: The Complete Works 1 & 2"

Just the most beautiful "folk" album of all time. Also get "Creek Drank the Cradle" the "Woman King" Ep and the "Sea and Rythm" Ep. Those are his best releases.

Perfect. Just perfect. The only dissapointment on the album is actually in collaboration with Tom Waits (hard to believe I know) Every song is excellent and flows right into the other. One of the prettiest records ever. Also check out "Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot" which is a completely amazing album.

Awesome rock record featuring some excellent cello work. Explosive and Intelligent. A great concept album, and Cursive's best by far. More great albums by this band: "Cursive's Domestica," "The Difference Between Houses and Homes" and "Happy Hollow."

One of the best albums of the 90's from what some would say was its best singer. Listen to his falsetto on "mojo pin," "grace" and of course "hallelujah."

Experimental, beautiful, unique, original. Every time I hear "The Bachelorette" I get goosebumps. DAMN this woman can sing.

Come on. Also "Crash" and "Under The Table and Dreaming." Their newer stuff is pretty mediocre adult/alternative, toothless stuff. But their newest, "Big WHiskey and the Gru Grux King" about the death of their saxophone player is outstanding.
