Pedro aka James Rutledge comes back with a stellar album, proving he has honed his craft even more since his amazing self-titled debut. Bombastic drums, swirling horn lines and minimal electronic touches...I can't get enough of this album! Buy the debut & this and then spread the word about this relatively unknown genius.

Super-duperfly instrumental hip-hop album from this up-and-coming DJ/producer. Presented in a DJ set format fading in & out of tracks, pretty much every song is bangin! Also, look for his EP with a dope MC named Blak.

The brooding sonic master is back, this time with a whole different approach. Rather than using sampling as a basis, Tobin recorded musicians & ambient open-air sounds, then built his crashing beats around that. The DVD included shows the whole process, making this one a bargain!

More left field hip-hop from Jneiro Jarel, the man behind Dr. Who Dat? Expect he same future-soul beats, but this one has rhymes on almost all the songs, mostly high quality, featuring some great guest spots by the likes of MF Doom. Listen!

No sophomore slump here from Wax Tailor, the French DJ/producer. A few of the vocal cameos are a little too pop for my leanings, but the pure sampling wizardry & tight beats more than make up for it. Wax is about to take the world by storm...

This Canadian post-rock juggernaut makes its triumphant return after a few years off. Both elements of the band are showcased well here, blending their acoustic meanderings with heavy crescendos of distorted guitars & horn lines. Bravo!

Extremely chilled-out and introspective album from TCO! There are more guest vocalists on this one than any of their previous releases, but as you would expect from this group, they are done tastefully & provide another color to the vast easel of J. Swinscoe and company. Put this on late at night and contemplate our existence.

Sam and the boys are back with more of their dreamy melodic pop from the streets of Chicago! This record is more guitar driven and less electro than the last couple, but their signature sound is always there & us fans of the band can't get enough! Simply the best pop band out there.
