Editorial Reviews

Review
Text is clear and easy to understand, it is practical on how to complete and submit accurate claim forms for major insurance companies. The case studies are realistic and beneficial in helping students extract information from a patients chart to a claim form. Both paper and electronic claims are emphasized.

I would recommend this text to any instructor or School Administrator looking for new text on Health Insurance and Billing. This text far supercedes the current text I am using. It is in-depth, full of exercises and examples, and really explains the topics at hand. Health Insurance and Billing can sometimes be boring for students but this text really keeps things interesting and would keep the students busy.

This text combines all concepts of Health Insurance into one, user-friendly text. It has excellent pedagogical elements presented to keep the students attention and help make information easily understandable. This text will make the transition from classroom to medical office easy for students. There is an outstanding supplement package available for instructors.

Good text book for Dr.'s Ofc, but not for Health Facilities4
If you are attempting to process "Professional" Health Insurance claims for a Doctor's Office (Form HCFA-1500) this is a good learning text. Includes a diskette for taking tests on your PC. However, there is no information on processing UB-92 Facility and Institutional claims.

it is very detailed and easy to understand5
I am taking a CPT coding class and my teacher is Ms.Rowell herself. I am so very pleased with this book, for it gives you step by step instructions in a very detailed manner. The layout is terrific, and the examples given in the book give you a sinerio that helps you put a real life situation into perspective. I have not found a better book that explains health insurance. If you are working in a "billing" environment, you should have this book.

handy handbook5
This book is written in an easy to understand style and anyone running a private billing service or working out of a medical office will find it very useful. It is especially helpful for understanding how to prepare HCFA claims for all third party insurance payers and medicare. I am a medical office manager and I find the book informative with tips to coding appropriately from source documents or superbills. I have recommended it to professional colleagues and billing beginners as well.
