Natural Chocolate
Such a nice change from processed chocolate. Great with vanilla icecream or sprinkled over fresh raspberries.
Disappointed
I'm a dark chocolate fanatic, especially the 70% type, and I love pure cocoa powder and use it all the time for things where I want to control the sugar amount because I don't like things very sweet. I thoroughly read the reviews on this product, and it seemed that the only people who complained about them were those who expected them to have some sweetness to them, or who didn't realize that these were simply cocoa beans chopped up.... so that didn't apply to me since I can chew on plain coffee beans; of course they're even better covered with a little dark chocolate like the ones they have at Starbucks. One person mentioned that they grind some of these cocoa nibs in with their coffee beans and I thought that was a great idea so I ordered these. Well, as soon as I opened the bag I noticed a rather acrid, unpleasant smell, not at all what I expected, which was that it should smell like plain unsweetened cocoa. Then I tried grinding some of the nibs in with my coffee beans and it ended up clogging the filter and the water wouldn't flow through. Luckily I was using one of those single cup coffee holders with a paper filter in it....if I had been brewing in my coffeepot it would have overflowed and there would have been a huge mess. If you do try this make sure you use a very small amount of the nibs. For me, I didn't like the taste of the coffee....it had an off taste, not like chocolate at all. I'm really confused as to how anyone could like these...maybe I got a bad batch?
Navitas raw cocoa
needs a bit of getting used to if you are used to processed cocoa, but a good product.
