Product Description

Skeletal Fitness by Mirabai Holland® is a 1 hour Bone Loading video to help combat osteoporosis by leading exercise expert, Mirabai Holland, M.F.A. Bones are living tissue and become more dense with exercise. Studies show that tennis players, through repeated practice, will develop thicker, stronger bones in their racquet arm than in their other arm. This process is called bone loading. Skeletal Fitness™is a comprehensive bone loading program for the whole body, with special emphasis on the areas at risk for osteoporotic fracture: the spine, thigh bone at the hip, and forearm at the wrist.

Skeletal Fitness™ video includes: A one-on-one bone loading workout divided into 6 color coded sections making it easy for beginners to stop and go, or fast forward to any section that needs work. Advanced exercisers can do the full body workout end to end.

Plus 2 information sections packed with important facts and illustrations about your bones and Osteoporosis.

This Lady Knows her "Stuff"5
I was so pleased with this DVD. Mirabai is a no-nonsense trainer who explains every move in detail and provides great information about osteoporosis. She is fit, but not a hard-body beauty so one doesn't feel intimidated. She is calm and thorough. It is as though she is in the room with you. I am in my 70's and I can keep up with the exercises for the most part. If I tire, I just pause and wait for the next group of exercises or continue with the program the next day. There are a variety of exercises for every part of the body. I prefer to use a stretch band in place of the towel and a hand towel for the hand wringing exercise however. I am not ready for the ankle weights yet, but soon! I am anxiously waiting for two more of her DVDs that I have purchased to arrive. She is the untimate trainer in my opinion!

Improved My Life5
Since I have been working out with this DVD, I have found it so much easier (and more comfortable) to move about. For example, getting in and out of the car and turning to look behind, when I'm backing the car out. Lifting and reaching for items is easier too. I find I am lifting with my leg and arm muscles, instead of my back muscles. I am up to 5 pound weights on the upper body and use the 1 pound weights for the legs (I'm ready to increase this weight).

I am 55 and I have osteoporosis. I have to be careful how I exercise -- so I don't hurt myself. I recently had a DEXA (bone test) and I am better than I was. Although certainly not the entire reason, I believe this DVD helped. I like Mirabai's attitude on the DVD. She makes me feel good about exercising and the exercise itself make me feel better throughout the day.

I like that the DVD is segmented -- so you can just select the exercises you want to do and don't have to do the entire thing at one time. On the DVD, she says not to exercise every day. Well, I often like to exercise every day. So I will do the warm up and then select either the leg exercises or the upper body workout or perhaps the isometrics. This keeps it varied and interesting. Plus I can use the amount of time I have available to exercise, by varying my selections.

There is one segment where she uses the wall (for standing pushups). This is harder for me, since I don't really have an available wall. However, I have still managed to make-do by using a closed door. Also, when she is doing one of the cool down exercises, I find it a bit difficult not only to do it but to see how she is doing it. These are the only criticisms I can think of. Still, the positives so far outweigh any negatives, that I still give it 5 stars.

This is Fantastic5
I was diagnosed with Osteoperosis this year. I'm 51 and it was a real wake up call. I have always walked for fitness but I have also added this video to my routine. I do this workout 3X a week. It has great exercises for areas of your body mostly prone to the Osteoperosis. It doesn't require special equipment and you don't even need to use the weights if you aren't up to that level. You will still get a good bone loading workout.
