Amazon.com Review
With its double-bladed slicing power and a smartly angled handle, Black & Decker's ergonomic electric knife takes the tennis elbow out of turkey carving. Designed to easily slice or carve hams, turkeys, and roasts, this high-powered knife also cuts through hard cheeses, dense breads, and whole pineapples. Positioned on a higher plane than the blade, the handle of this kitchen tool lets you slice all the way through a cut of meat before any knuckles hit the carving board. The handle also sports a comfortable soft-grip surface and ergonomic curves. The trigger, built into the underside of the knife, is easy to depress. To keep carving safe, it's protected by a sliding guard that is a snap to use. For added safety, the guard must be in place before blades can be inserted or removed. The 9-inch stainless-steel blades are dishwasher-safe and lock together during use so that their back-and-forth motion is precise and controlled. They also feature finger grips for pain-free insertion and removal. --Emily Bedard

Excellent electric knife
100% of our bread at home is homemade and heavy texture. We've worn out a lot of electric knives. Most wear at the joint at the front of the blades or the blades start to separate in the middle so that they shave up a thin piece of meat between the blades.
We got our first B&D ERGO based on a test report in a cooking magazine. So far it has held up very well and is the best electric knife we've had. It didn't like being dropped on a concrete/ceramic tile floor but continued to work while wrapped in tape. I think that this is the first time we've tried to get a specific model as a replacement.
Black and Decker Ergonomic Electric Knife
This is an excellent knife. It is sharp, cuts with minimum effort, and has unique safety features. Most importantly, is very easy to use because it is comfortable for the hands.
smoking but not in a good way...
I've had this for a couple of years and only used it to slice turkey, chicken and roast beef. The first time I used the knife it started to smell like it was over heating. It does that every time I have used it. I've tried going very slow and applying no pressure to see if that would help - it helped a little but still seemed to be over heating. Cannot recommed it.
