Stevie Lake and her best friends, Carole and Lisa, are known as The Saddle Club at Pine Hollow Stables. Stevie has always been a bit of a tomboy and can be quite stubborn. When she puts her mind to something, there is no stopping her. Unlike most girls her age who are more interested in boys and shopping, Stevie prefers to spend all of her time with the horses, especially Belle. Belle is an 8-year-old black mare with a small white star on her forehead. Originally given the name Blackie, she was discovered by Stevie struggling to survive in the wilderness. As Stevie nursed the mare back to health, the two formed a special bond.

Well Detailed Equestrian Toy
My 7 year old daughter is in the middle of a horse phase and really loves this set. We read the first book together while she was recuperating from a tonsillectomy. The horse set and story really entertained her. We both love the detail on the Belle's tack and Stevie's clothes. My daughter has even put saddle pads on her other horses that didn't come with them, to make them look better. We're both very pleased. My daughter would like another set, and the next book!

nice, life-like, but not for rought play
I really like the breyer / girl horse sets that I purchased for my daughter (6) for christmas. HOwever, I have a two 1/2 year old who likes to take the bridles / harnesses off the horses face and they are very delicate and flimsy. I have tried to keep him away from them, but thats easier said than done. My daughter loves playing with them and they are very life like, just have to be gentle with the riding gear on them.
