Product Description

When Soah's impoverished, desperate village decides to sacrifice her to the Water God Habaek to end a long drought, they believe that drowning one beautiful girl will save their entire community and bring much-needed rain. Not only is Soah surprised to be rescued by the Water God - instead of killed - she never imagined she'd be a welcomed guest in Habaek's magical kingdom, where an exciting new life awaits her! Most surprising, however, is the Water God himself... and how very different he is from the monster Soah imagined.

~Art: 5, Story: 2.5~3
I bought volumes 1 and 2 and them both in two evenings. I was disappointed a bit because the artwork and plot summary seemed so intriguing.

I like the idea for story of a young girl being sacrificed to the water god, a character who seems to be a boy but turns into a man at night. This had so much potential, but it could have been carried out way better and there should be a little more drama, action, and excitement for such a story containing a new fantasy land, a hot guy who changes age when night falls, and hints of a villain (his mother).

Characters are well drawn (as is everything) though their expressions are a bit stiff, and sometimes dialogue between them is confusing. This is possibly a problem with translation, or word bubble placement.

Overall I'd recommend trying out the first volume to get a feel for this series, though by the 2nd it hadn't really progressed much. But its actual story content definitely lags far behind its high quality art. If this was instead a novel or book it'd be bland and slow, and the characters would be a little 1-dimensional without their visual counterparts.

Gorgeous artwork! The story seems interesting in spite of moving a little slowly. The characters are really lovely and the scenery and world is simply beautiful! Worth picking up.

I am really a very skeptical person when it comes to starting a new manga series. However, I found that Bride of the Water God was one of the better series I have read.It has an interesting new perspective and amazing art.
