My personal favorite movie-- a seminal war and comedy classic. While Kubrick had to continually prod George C. Scott to play Gen. Turgidson more and more over-the-top, I somehow doubt Peter Sellers needed similar encouragement.

The brilliance of Baron Cohen is how his foreign persona and supposed difficulties with English allow people to drop their facade and act in total candor, and in the process, expose a side of society that is carefully hidden from view. In that way, ordinary people are the stars; Baron Cohen is the puppet master.

There are perhaps more usable lessons about life in these movies than any other. For example: 1) Don't take action on things that are affected by your emotions; only make decisions for strategic benefit. 2) Never take sides against your family. Handle all disagreements in private and present a united front to outsiders. 3) One best gains influence over others by earning their respect.

It's the Shakespeare thing. The Coen Bros use weak male characters to the brilliant effect of showing how narcissistic decisions, poorly executed, can so righteously backfire. And then they punish those people. Fargo's not for everyone. But if you can appreciate really dark comedies, this is your movie.

Like Casablanca, Welles' masterpiece deserves all the praise it's garnered over the years. Don't miss out on it because you assume it's over-hyped. It isn't. Kane's campaign speech is an all-time favorite.

Worthy of every last bit of its reputation. Casablanca earns its praise by way of a great, great story and thoughtful character development. Claude Rains plays one of my favorite roles here.

The best from Fellini's early career. You'll want to wrap Giulietta Masina in a warm blanket and shield her from the outside world. Some of the best movies have the same plot line (Taxi Driver and The Searchers).

Universally hated by women, and that alone makes it worth watching. One of the most inexplicable things to me is how women can watch a movie where dozens of people get shot and have no reaction to that while they recoil in disgust at In The Company of Men for being a movie about two guys who hurt a deaf girl's feelings.

I had the bright idea of watching this all alone in my parents' freaky basement after midnight. I slept with a baseball bat that night. It's much more than a horror story, though.

More a dream than a movie. If you've never seen it before I think that'll enable you to enjoy it the most.

Panchali got an emotional response from me like no other moview before and since. How anyone could show such beauty in dispair is beyond me.

'Kane' is better, but 'Evil' is more fun to watch. Incredible direction by Welles.

My favorite kids' movie. Damn those bunnies are cute.

My favorite French film. It is worthy of its reputation as one of the best ever made.

Even my mom, who hasn't worked in an office 35 years, loves it. Especially funny for those trapped in cubeville.

A film about pain and suffering and nothing else. It's emotionally draining, but in a good way.
