Product Description

Introduction to Paralegalism, seventh edition, explores the dynamic of working in a modern law office setting, and provides new paralegals with the hands-on skills and real-world context necessary to succeed in the field. Foremost attention is given to the rules of ethics, including rules from all fifty states and the District of Columbia, and in particular, the ethical guidelines that lawyers and paralegals must follow. Introduction to Paralegalism, seventh edition, also provides students important insight to the efforts underway to regulate the profession in legislatures, courts, bar associations, and paralegal associations. Ten critical skills are covered in the book: identifying legal issues, breaking rules into elements, applying rules to facts, interviewing clients, investigating facts, digesting discovery documents, providing litigation assistance, researching the law, drafting documents, and representing clients at administrative agencies where authorized by law.

Editorial Reviews

Review
I found the organization of the text to be excellent. I particularly like the order in which the author has presented the material. The author has provided an exceptional overview of the profession of a paralegal; the ethics, the responsibilities and regulation of the profession. This is well done.

The information Statsky compiles in this text creates a thorough foundation for the introductory paralegal student. It is a wonderful reference for students throughout the entire paralegal program, and a text the students will want to refer to when they transition from students to working paralegals

Excellent Resource Guide5
This book is an excellent text for indivdiuals wishing to study the paralegal profession or the legal system in general. I would highly recommend it to any of my peers in the legal community.

Useful text and reference5
I use this book as the textbook in an Intro to Law for Paralegals class that I teach. The books is incredibly well-organized and useful. There are very few typos, and additionally it contains great references at the end of each chapter. While I think the book is designed for the classroom setting, it can also be used for self-teaching as well. Even after the class is over students can use the book as a reference guide.
