![]() | The Hills Have Eyes (Unrated Edition)
Buy new: $12.49 / Used from: $0.38 This is a brutal remake of the classic. The acting is actually pretty good, and it is extremely gory. The plot/story is practically identical to the original. The scene where the main character goes into the mutants' village with his dog is awesome. Just be ready for a dark, depressing, and violent film.
![]() | The Hills Have Eyes 2 (Unrated Edition)
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $1.99 A step down from the first one. Probably even more gore than its predecessor, the acting is a lot worse. This one centers around an Army Reserve unit doing desert training. This unit is totally inept, which makes the movie a little less believable. This one has a pretty disturbing opening and a rape scene that they could have easily left out.

![]() | Wrong Turn
Buy new: $10.49 / Used from: $1.25 This move is awesomely bad. The acting at times is abysmal, and it is not as gory as I was expecting. Eliza Dushku is the female lead, so there is plenty of eye candy (no nudity though). This is your typical survival horror movie, it doesn't bring anything new to the genre, but I can't help but enjoy it. It is a short movie, which makes it that more enjoyable.
![]() | Wrong Turn 2 - Dead End (Unrated)
Buy new: $15.49 / Used from: $5.47 Better than the first one. Way more gore (the opening scene with the girl from American Idol is so over the top you can't help but laugh), and its pretty funny. Henry Rawlins as awesome in a "Rambo" style role. It rips off of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre a little towards the end. The acting is pretty bad in places, but hey, what did you expect?
![]() | Jeepers Creepers
Buy new: $10.49 / Used from: $1.06 This was a good start to the franchise. The Creeper is an awesome horror character. The acting is about what you would expect. The story surrounding the Creeper is actually pretty unique. Not overly gory, but it has its moments.
![]() | Jeepers Creepers 2 (Special Edition)
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $0.01 Not as good as the first one, and its not scary either. The Creeper is still awesome, and the special effects are better. The acting is worse, and most of the people that get killed you don't like anyways. The studio is working on a sequel right now, hopefully they will improve back to the level of the original.
![]() | The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning - Unrated (New Line Platinum Series)
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $0.27 Easily one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen. I actually like the theatrical cut more so than the unrated cut, just because its not as over the top. Its a good introduction to Leatherface, and Jordanna Brewster is definitely easy on the eyes.
![]() | The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Buy new: $9.49 / Used from: $0.01 A good remake. I am not a huge fan of the original so I may be biased in saying this one is better. It is not overly scary, but has some tense moments. The movie is more gritty than it is gory (not saying that it doesn't have its moments). Jessica Biel is great as the lead, and definitely easy on the eyes.
![]() | 28 Days Later (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $1.83 This is a great reinvention of the zombie myth. Good acting and story. This movie shows what can be accomplished with a fairly low budged and a talented cast and crew.
![]() | 28 Weeks Later (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $2.14 Just as good as the original. Same overall tone, but on a larger scale. Mixes some great action and special effects in with the horror and atmosphere from the first film. Hopefully they will continue the franchise.
![]() | The Hitcher (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $0.67 I love this movie. I have never seen the original so I can't comment on which is better. This movie is not overly scary, but it has some great action and suspense. Sean Bean is great as the title character and after seeing this film I am a big Sophia Bush fan. With the exception of a couple of scenes, the movie is not that gory.
![]() | House of Wax (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $8.49 / Used from: $0.01 This movie is decent. The acting, with the exception of a couple of the characters, is solid. The best part of this movie (SPOILER) is seeing Paris Hilton get stabbed through the head with a spear (if you say you don't want to see that, you are lying). At almost two hours, this movie is kinda long for a horror movie, and drags in places.
![]() | Silent Hill (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 The first 2/3 of this movie are great, then it loses some of its kick. The acting is good, as are the special effects. It is pretty gory, and some of the creature designs are awesome. An overall great story that loses some of its momentum in the films final act.
![]() | Pulse (Unrated Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $0.01 I guess I need to start by saying I am a huge Kristen Bell fan, so I know I liked this more than most people. It is a pretty unique ghost story with a few scares. Its short running time makes it all the more tolerable. Better acting than you would expect from a teen horror flick.
![]() | I Know What You Did Last Summer/I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
Buy new: $17.99 / Used from: $6.12 The first one is good, the second one is tolerable. Jennifer Love Hewitt has been hot for two decades. Solid acting for a teen slasher flick, not a lot of gore though.
![]() | Dog Soldiers
Buy used from: $6.49 A good debut for director Neil Marshall. Low budget, so some of the effects are lame, but the acting is solid, and it is a great werewolf story.
![]() | Sleepy Hollow
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $3.90 A great take on the American legend. The acting as great, and the atmosphere of the film is eerie and really sets the mood. Christopher Walken was the perfect choice to play the pre-decapitated horseman. It has some great action as well as suspense.
![]() | Dawn of the Dead (Widescreen Unrated Director's Cut)
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $0.01 Better than the original. Whoever decided to make it so the zombies could run, was a genius. Decent acting, plenty of gore and gross out moments for horror fans. Make sure you watch the credits for the whole ending.
![]() | Hatchet (Unrated Director's Cut)
Buy new: $15.99 / Used from: $1.18 A great throw back to 80's style slasher films. This movie is hysterical, and the gore is so outlandish that you can't help but laugh. If you are a fan of the Jason, Michael, and Freddy movies, you will likely enjoy this.
![]() | P2 (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $4.55 This movie is pretty good. The acting is good, Wes Bentley plays a great psycho. The ending is a little weak and corny but other than that it is solid. Most of the movie is gore free, but the few scenes that are in it are intense. It is short, so its easily enjoyed.
![]() | Grindhouse Presents, Planet Terror - Extended and Unrated (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $5.83 This movie is awesome. Way better than Death Proof in my opinion. Its funny, faced paced, and action packed. A few scares and gross out moments, but for the most part the gore is so over the top it is hysterical. The cast is great and the story is a great throw back to classic zombie films. As of now, this is my favorite movie on this list.
![]() | The Descent (Unrated Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $8.49 / Used from: $2.10 This should show Hollywood what can be done with a low budget and talented cast. A very effective horror movie, with an all female cast (and no there is no nudity).
![]() | The Messengers
Buy new: $12.99 / Used from: $0.66 An entertaining ghost story that is not as bad as most Hollywood remakes of Japanese films. Probably not something you'll watch over and over, but it is at least worth a rent.
![]() | The Skeleton Key (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $10.49 / Used from: $1.72 A slow moving thriller that is definitely worth a few repeat viewings.
![]() | The Others (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $0.99 Very similar to The Skeleton Key in tone and pacing.
![]() | See No Evil (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $0.01 A better than average modern slasher. The college aged cast is very reminiscent of that of a Friday the 13th film. However, the movie as a whole is more disturbing. The acting is about what you would expect from this type of film.
