Product Description

Warning: This book could change the way you read the Bible forever.

As God's written Word to us, the Bible is the single most powerful agent for transforming our lives. But too often our Bible reading becomes routine and fails to engage our hearts as well as our minds.

In Reading the Bible with Heart and Mind, Tremper Longman will help you discover the incredible power of the Scriptures to mold you into the character of Christ. "Even though the Bible is powerful," writes Longman, "we don't change just because we read it. Our minds may be engaged, but something needs to happen to our hearts as well."

If you want to rekindle your passion for God's Word, this book will help you learn to accurately read, understand, and respond to God's Word in ways that will develop deep intimacy with Christ and transform you into His image.

Review
If you are ready to find out what living by the Bible is all about, this is the book you've been looking for. Reading the Bible with Heart and Mind can revolutionize how we think about the Bible and use it day by day. These are concepts I want our church to learn; they are concepts I use to train my students; they are concepts I teach my kids. -- John H. Walton, Ph.D., professor of Old Testament, Moody Bible Institute; and coauthor of Survey of the Old Testament

Longman drives home the truths that the Bible transforms our lives and leads us to Christ. His words will inflame your heart and guide you to read the Bible for all it's worth. -- Bruce K. Waltke, Marshall Sheppard Professor of Old Testament Studies, Regent College

Sections of Scripture I have read countless times came alive with a new passion and a compelling call as I read this book. If you want to be changed by the Word of God, walk through the familiar with a new perspective offered by a humble, brilliant guide. It will be the journey of a lifetime. -- Dan B. Allender, Ph.D., director of Wounded Heart Ministries

Tremper Longman has learned to love the Bible with all his heart and mind, and even more to love its Author. This delightful and compelling work will help others to fall in love with God too. -- Dr. James Montgomery Boice, senior minister, Tenth Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia; and president, Alliance of Confession Evangelicals

Excellent perspective5
You will love this book. The book was recommended to me as I doubt I would have found it on my own. The title does not convey the wonderful way this explains the Christian faith and how we need to read the Bible with our emotions and logic. The book created in me a strong desire to increase my daily Bible reading time by putting the Bible in perspective.

The title of this book says it all. Dr. Longman's personal style makes this book easy enough for the layman and advanced enough to be useful for the more scholarly minded. Read this book and find out how to read the Bible as God created you, a whole person!
