![]() | Seducia by Silentium
Buy new: $44.99 / Used from: $15.36 While the male vocals are just okay, the female vocals on this release are beautiful! Though a lot lower than the voices of most vocalists in this genre. They have a thick, wintry atmosphere, and some very beautiful ballads! Such as Hangman's Lullaby, Frostnight, and Unspoken.
![]() | In a Flesh Aquarium by Unexpect
Buy new: $11.98 / Used from: $8.22 Unexpect sound just like you'd imagine from a beauty and the beast "avant-guard, extreme metal band". There is music is relentless, and well, rather psychotic. It's good...but it's not easy listening.
![]() | Evernight by Battlelore
Buy new: $17.98 / Used from: $8.44 Battlelore are another beauty and the beast band. This is the only release of theirs that I won, but from what I understand, they take influences from Tolkien. The female vocals are very melancholic, and the grunts are quite good as well. Nothing to complain about!
![]() | The Phantom Agony by Epica
Buy new: $32.99 / Used from: $20.51 Yet another beauty and the beast band, Epica was formed after a former member of After Forever departed from said band. They have a well, very "epic" sound. Great vocalists, but I'm not a particularly big fan of their lyrics, but maybe that's just me. They have one other release as well, and as I'm writing this, are working on another.
![]() | After Forever by After Forever
Buy new: $51.99 / Used from: $16.70 And then hear come After Forever themselves! This new 2007 release is easy one of the top new femme-metal albums of the year! - Fantastic CD! most of the songs are very fast and relentless, with a few tender moments and ballads. All the vocals (female and grunts again) are great, the production is great...a near perfect album overall.
![]() | Funeral for Yesterday by Kittie
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $3.45 And here's something quite different. Kittie uses both clean and harsh vocals, but here both are female - no male vocalists here, in fact this is an all-women band! Many of the songs on this particularly album approach "poppy", but these are contrasted by the much more aggressive songs on the album as well.
![]() | A New Dimension of Might by Trail of Tears
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $5.59 And now we're back with BnB (beauty and the beast) vocals. Trail of Tears are a band much in the same vein as early Tristania. They don't use very many female vocals however, but the ones they do use are gorgeous! They also use some clean male vocals, though you'll be hearing a lot of grunts on this CD!
![]() | Illumination by Tristania
Buy new: $17.98 / Used from: $8.49 A decent album, but still no where near the greatness of Beyond The Veil. Much less grunts here, but the music is less dark, and more like Goth rock than Goth metal.
![]() | Nine Destinies and a Downfall by Sirenia
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $12.21 Completely unlike their past efforts, this album uses next to no grunts, and even less clean male vocals. The voice you hear prominently on this album are the poppy female vocals of their new singer. Sirenia have also turned in a more Goth rock direction.
![]() | A Whisper of Dew by Mandragora Scream
Buy used from: $25.00 An ambient release based on a vampire love story. Female vocals and some clean male vocals, and both voices unique ones at that! I also have their third release, Madhouse (not available on Amazon), which is much more aggressive.
![]() | Last Bewitchment by Penumbra
Buy used from: $9.79 Yet another BnB band, with clean male vocals as well. They have some interesting songs, but I don't find them easy to listen to for very long, probably due to the particularly raspy voice of the grunter. Not a whole lot of female vocals though, about the same amount as early Tristania.
![]() | Seclusion by Penumbra
Buy new: $5.49 / Used from: $4.98 Another release by the same band. Different female vocalist on this one, whom also gets to sing a bit more. I probably prefer this release overall.
![]() | Shadowplay by Shadowplay
A band with female and clean male vocals, they have a lot of atmosphere in their songs, and a slightly different sound than most similar bands. Most songs are relatively slow, but pretty. Great if you're in the mood.
![]() | There Be Squabbles Ahead by Stolen Babies
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $5.59 Now here's a unique band! Stolen Babies use all female vocals - both clean and harsh. Their music is very hyper and unpredictable, and in some places resembles carnival music. Alternative rock mixed with Avant-guard metal!
![]() | Astronomicom by Without Face
A bit of a strange album that defiantly has its own sound. Features both male vocals and the female vocals of the singer that is now in To-Mera. The songs are haunting and atmospheric, but definitely not for everyone! There are only 6 songs, but most are quite long. Without Face base their lyrics on works by writers such as Edgar Allen Poe.
![]() | Bloodangel's Cry by Krypteria
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $7.28 A poppy release that reminds me a lot of Evanescence's famous album, Fallen. It also reminds me slightly of Within Temptation's The Silent Force. All female vocals, and I love the use of the choir in this!
![]() | Embrace the Storm by Stream of Passion
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $7.71 Very pretty and atmospheric. All female vocals.
![]() | The Heart of Everything by Within Temptation
Buy new: $17.98 / Used from: $8.97 A great album that is an evolution of the sound we heard on The Silent Force - I'm not sure which of the two is better! Most of the songs are a lot heavier and rawer on this one, but Sharon den Adel's voice is as pretty as ever. One of the better new releases of 2007 so far.
![]() | Angel & the Rain by Love Crave
Buy new: $28.99 / Used from: $14.60 Amazing Goth rock album! Very dark, atmospheric and haunting, with incredibly unique vocals, electronic elements, great lyrics, and a better-than-average concept story! A must have!
