Product Description

In Lake George Reflections Frank Leonbruno has recounted his experience of forty-two years as a New York State ranger on Lake George from 1941 to 1983, the last ten years as Supervisor of Lake George Operations. This book is manifold and is based on Leonbruno's own reminiscences, conversations with Lake George area natives and campers, and his own research into historical documents. It relates the history of individual islands-- both private and state owned. The book addresses important environmental issues, specifically focusing on the severe erosion which is occurring on many of the islands. Not only is Lake George Reflections an important book for everyone who knows and loves the lake, and a wonderful introduction for all others, it is the definitive book on camping on the Lake George islands.

Review through osmosis4
Bought this book for my history-loving husband that spent many summers at camp in the Lake George area. He read it within a week, and commented each evening how much he was enjoying the history, stories and recommended the book to me.

We'll be well read on our trips there in the spring - so much of the lure of Lake George was coming through in the book and I look forward to bringing the stories of the lake to life on our trip.

Lake George Reflections5
I enjoyed this book very much. I camped on the islands of Lake George with my parents when I was a child and later on in life with my own children. I knew the author personnaly as he would make sure we got the same campsite every year. Later in life after my dad passed my mother married a gentleman who had a summer home on Lake George and also spent a lot of time there. I have 4 different books on Lake George.
