The USB Serial Adapter is a dongel with a USB A connector on one end, and a DB9M connector on the other. It provides an external plug-and-play RS-232 Male serial connection to your computer's USB "A" host port, or to an external USB hub's downstream port. The onboard, proprietary circuitry under the DB9 hood guarantees 100% compatibility with all serial RS-232 devices. Installation is easy. Simply plug a serial device into the UC-232A adapter and plug the USB port into the computer. No IRQs are needed, so there are no IRQ or Com port conflicts.

USB to SERIAL adapter that actually works!
After reading many of the reviews people had left about problems with these types of adapters, I settled on the CP Technoliges USB to Serial Adapter. The drivers installed with no problems. The throughput speed is much faster than expected, especially considering COM ports aren't the fasted things in the world! (I did increase the port speed manually, and the adapter was fine with it.)

Excellent product, at a great price. You should also note that this adapter is far less expensive than many of the others. If only everything was less expensive and worked better!

Works as Stated - Easy to Install
I needed this cable to use with my Garmin Rino 120 because my new laptop didn't have a serial adapter. My first try was to use a similiar product from Radio Shack, but I found the Radio Shack product was very confusing to use and was unstable. I ordered the CP Technologie product from Amazon and it worked great! Also, the CP Tech product was less than half the cost of the Radio Shack product (including shipping).

Installed on VISTA
Tried to follow the installation directions but they were not exact. Just keep looking for "PL2303HXD Vista Driver installer.exe" on the Driver CD and installs in minutes and works well.
