Average customer review:Product Description
On the ocean floor off a Caribbean island, an American engineer building a new harbor sets off a blast that uncovers the frozen bodies of a Brontosaurus, a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Neanderthal man. The dinosaurs are hauled ashore by the construction crew, who are unaware that the giants are actually alive, in a state of suspended animation. Struck by lightning during a fierce tropical storm, the monsters awaken and prowl the island jungles. Also restored to life is the cave man, an amiable brute who joins an island boy in a series of wacky misadventures. A merry grab bag of sci-fi, action and comedy, "Dinosaurus!" features stop-motion dinosaur animation by the legendary Projects Unlimited effects team (The Time Machine, "The Outer Limits").

Dinosaurus is a good movie
Stop-Motion fans should check this out for it's stop-mo dinosaurs. It was made in 1960 and was double-billed with The Blob. Producer Jack H. Harris went on to produce Equinox ( 1971 ), The Blob ( 1988 remake ) and several others. The brontosaurus model later apeared in a TWILIGHT ZONE episode.
Until Jurassic Park, my favorite dinosaur movie!
Hey, I know it's no Jurassic Park, but it was 1960, what do you expect? This movie has a LOT to offer, pretty cool dinosaurs by that day's standard (at least they aren't lizards or crocs with fins glued on them!), and it also has another important element: comedy. The Caveman is simply there for comic relief, and he fills those shoes (or should I say furry little slippers) nicely. And don't forget all the typecast characters: the beautiful blonde femme fetale, the handsome dark haired hero, his forgetable dark haired buddy, the little goofy kid, the fat man, the drunk Irish guy (dinofood...), and don't forget the evil guy and his two stupid flunkies. Drop them on a Carribean Isle with a bunch of "natives"/extras and a pair of dinos and a caveman, stir, and serve. Get the picture? But hey, it works. I saw this on TV as a child, stayed up all night to watch it on Horror Incorporated (the Twin Cities Saturday nite midnight movie show), and the DVD version blows the TV versions away. For a 1960 movie, the picture is great, and the sound isn't too bad. Plus it's enhanced for widescreen TVs! What else do you want? It has a trailer and stills too! GET THIS MOVIE! And then put it next to Jurassic Park on your shelf, you'll be glad you did!
I FOUND IT! ! ! Great Classsic 50/60's movie
WOW! The last review on this movie is over 7 years, ago!...I have been looking for this movie for a long time. I Got it on EBay for $6.23 Brand New Factory Sealed!...some sellers are going as high as $90.00 or more.....I couldnt find this movie because I couldnt spell it,..try it, I bet youll miss the first time. I was 11 or 12 when I first saw it... Yes out dated special effects, but so is King Kong and Godzilla.(A Man In A Rubber Suit)...You cant get any more basic than that, and look how we never tire of them,...atleast I dont...Anyway, this is all rubber stop motion, and low budget effects. It is a great story of a Re-animated Cave Man,a nasty Tyrannosaurus.. and boy befrinding a Brontosaurus,(Try spelling those 2 one without looking)... and even riding on its back... Back then this was the stuff of Great Childhood Fantasy... Dated, but hey..2:35 Wide Screen, and bright colorful Transfer... Remember Cinemascope?.. Alot of movies today look like they were shot with a home Cam...and some, really are! If your addicted to CGI, this movie will feel campy/corny..but hey, thats what I think the producers were aiming for. Not for everyones tastes, but a great time capsule for us Baby Boomers..Highly Recomended family fare.
