After months of searching and research, this was the most camera for the money - and I couldn't be happier. Don't compare this camera to others in its price range - this blows them all out of the water!

Buy new: Too low to display / Used from: $169.00
This isn't the fastest lens, but it's still a great lens. Definitely one to add if you are just starting out (don't go all out on the expensive lenses until you know what you want to shoot!) Pick it up!

I LOVE this lens - fast, and takes amazing portraits. The depth of field is awesome! Just don't fall down the steps trying to get everything into frame!
Pentax AF540FGZ Flash for Pentax and Samsung Digital SLR Cameras (Includes Case)Pentax AF540FGZ Flash for Pentax and Samsung Digital SLR Cameras (Includes Case)
Buy new: $409.95
Expensive, but worth it. When you need a little light, the ability to bounce off the ceiling and off the wall is a must. This flash rotates right and left as well as up and down, very versatile.
Gary Fong P2 Clear Lightsphere II Inverted Dome Flash Diffusion System.Gary Fong P2 Clear Lightsphere II Inverted Dome Flash Diffusion System.
Buy new: $39.95
This has been a useful tool - definitely spreads the light out and brightens up some of my shots. However, I haven't gotten to the point where I'm able to get consistent pictures - that might take some time. There are some DIY options on the internet that are just as effective, and probably cost only $10 in the long run - the choice is up to you.
Lowepro SlingShot 100 All-Weather Digital Camera Backpack (Black)Lowepro SlingShot 100 All-Weather Digital Camera Backpack (Black)
Buy new: $69.94 / Used from: $46.99
This has been very handy, I love the quick and easy access. Unfortunately, I outgrew it rather quickly. Fortunately, I picked mine up used to begin with - and will keep it around for small trips. Many people seem to like the 200 for everyday use, and the 300 is too heavy when packed full.
Lowepro Fastpack 350 (Arctic Blue)Lowepro Fastpack 350 (Arctic Blue)
Buy new: $112.95 / Used from: $103.99
My new Christmas gift - check this out instead of the Slingshot 300. Similar functions, but two straps to distribute the weight. It's a pretty large pack, but there's a lot of room for all sorts of goodies. I like that it looks more like a backpack than a camera bag, and it's still easy enough to get inside.
Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Aluminum Pro TripodManfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Aluminum Pro Tripod
Buy new: $145.00 / Used from: $131.99
Excellent tripod. Carbon Fiber seems too expensive for me, but this weighs in a little over 4lbs. I prefer quick release clips on the legs anyway. I'm 6', and the height is just perfect for me. Great balance.
Manfrotto 322RC2 Joystick Head ShortManfrotto 322RC2 Joystick Head Short
Buy new: $120.00
I love this head - it's perfect for a lefty. You can set it up for lefties, control the pan and tilt with your dominant hand, and take pictures with your right. It's not a light head, definitely sturdy.
Pentax Remote Control F for Pentax Digital CamerasPentax Remote Control F for Pentax Digital Cameras
Buy new: $20.32 / Used from: $9.95
A remote and a tripod will help you get those great night shots. I appreciate the range on this remote (compared with the cheap knock-offs) and as long as you don't use it, it should serve you well. Definitely worth the $30 I paid.
