Conventional wisdom tells us that success is a simple matter of "being who you want to be," but this well-intentioned advice couldn't be further from the truth. By the time we're adults, our personalities are already decided by stable traits that change less than 1% in a lifetime.
The Personality Code is an insightful, cage-rattling report from the frontiers of psychology and neuroscience that not only reveals why we do what we do and but also explores how we can make the most of our innate personalities.
With a gift for making sometimes arcane research accessible and practical for every reader, Bradberry, the bestselling co-author of The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book, provides the means to attain self-awareness and to read other people. Building his case with real-life anecdotes from a man who awakens from a 19-year coma to identical twins living the same life despite being separated at birth to a devious genius who cracks one of the most popular game shows in history, Bradberry shows us how to focus on and use effectively the fixed character traits that inevitably shape our destiny. THE STUDY
The book's breakthroughs are the product of a decade-long study of more than 500,000 people worldwide. The research team discovered that personality holds the clues to our talents, strengths, and blind spots, and self-awareness is the ubiquitous skill behind successful people. It isn't which personality you hold that matters-it's how well you understand yours and put your skills to good use. THE TEST
Most original and potentially most revealing, however, is the Web-based interactive component of the book that allows you to take the IDISC Personality Profiler(tm) test to discover quickly your strengths and weaknesses inherent in your personality type and learn strategies for putting your personality to work.
The revelations inside The Personality Code fly in the face of what most of us have been told our entire lives will make us successful. Decipher your code and you'll never see yourself-or anyone else for that matter-the same way again.

Good Book
Fun to read
I really enjoyed the author's writing in this book. Dr. Bradberry has
influenced me to learn more about myself and to explore the perspectives of
others. I enjoyed the stories, understood the research, and the test that
comes with the book is top-notch. I have benefited so much from this
information I hope everyone who comes in contact with this information have
the same revelations as I did.
A twist on MBTI
In short, I liked the book. I took the test, found out I was an Innovator and found out who my antithesis is. All that being said, the iDISC is explained in laymen terms and makes a lot of sense. For those of us who are familiar and have used MBTI, this is along those lines and makes perfect sense.
Fascinating book
Self-Awareness: The Hidden Driver of Success and Satisfaction is an intriguing book that I enjoyed reading. It sucked me in right away with the fascinating opening story of twins who, despite being reared apart in vastly different homes, ended up being virtually identical adults in their interests and behavior.
The book illustrates 14 unique personality types that come from the author's research with a global sample of half a million people. The whole idea is that you can't change your personality in adulthood, so you better learn the ins and outs of what makes you tick. Including in this exploration is how to get along better with other people based upon their personality type, and how to understand your anti-type--the personality of people you are bound to clash with if you aren't careful. The book includes access to an online test that identifies your personality type and presents lots of useful information on your strengths and potential Achilles' heel. It also suggests jobs you are suited for based upon your personality.
All in all, this is a really great book that's very useful in your interactions with people. I liked it almost as much as the author's other book Emotional Intelligence 2.0
